It was the day you were fated to die, or so you were told, you were upright, holding the diary notes of Valerie in your palm. You had come to terms with it all, Death you were never afraid of, but considering the lengthy days you had stayed in this small, dingy cell, alone with your thoughts, voices and all else... You were able to think over many things, you had grown as a human, and couldn't believe this was how you were going to die, but at least now you felt so close to being 'complete', "Maybe if V was here... then I would be 'complete'" You cough a little, your voice hoarse, it having took more effort than it should have, you feel so broken and so whole at the same time. Before you could ponder more on it--
--
"It's time."
"I'm ready." You reply, never breaking eye contact.
"Look, all they want is 1 little piece of information, just give them something, anything!" He pleads.
"Thank you, but I'd rather die behind the chemical sheds." You state firmly.
"Then you have no fear, anymore, you're completely free" With that he walked away, leaving you alone in the cell once again.
"What!?" You whisper in disbelief, he's now out of sight.
Scrambling to your knees, you begin to stand, almost falling, but with happiness you glide across the cement tiles, seeing no one in the hallways, the patrols... seemingly nonexistent, a single guard stood between you and your freedom.
Unsteadily making your way along the corridor, meeting your match, you punch the guy in the face, it fell to the floor with a dull thud, he isn't real. 'WTF' you think... what a waste of energy.

Pacing towards the end of the hall, you realise the door was not bolted, not heavy, not built to even hold any sort of dangerous prisoners, but in its wake was your 'freedom'.
Upon opening the door you get ready for any sort of ambush, you take the fake guy's head and his toy gun.
Opening the door, you throw the gun to the left. Meanwhile on the other side of the door, stood V, he watched your skillfully made up plan unravel, not expecting a fake head to be booted at his face, catching him off guard he falls to the floor with a *KATHUNKCHAH*.
You hurrying in, jumping at your 'captor', realising it's V, trying to stop yourself in midair, of course to no avail, you were at the mercy of gravity, and gravity is not all too kind.
You fall on top of V, still you're wary because this could be a set up, you press down on a pressure point on his neck, making him tense. "START TALKING!" You demand, voice weak but hoarse.
He stares up at you, "y/n, I apologise, I was only trying to alleviate you of your pain-"
"YOU'RE LYING! THIS IS ANOTHER FUCKING TRICK, ISN'T IT?! WELL HAHA YOU WIN! MY BROKEN ASS IS DONE WITH YOUR SHIT, YOU CAN KILL ME NOW, FOR ALL I CARE!!" You were now red faced and light headed. V held your hands, he lightly took you off of him. Standing you steadily on the cold stone floor, he asked if you were alright.
Your eyes met the dark puddles of nothingness in his mask, and you reply, "V... Is it really you?..." Your voice barely audible, V heard you and nodded, his bob-cut hair swaying and slipping from his shoulders as he did. You collapse into him from relief. He holds your body, that's the feeling you had ached for for so long.. But then you realised...
"You did this to me?!" You hit at him, though you had next to no energy and your body was practically limp you try to fight him off, him having no trouble at all with holding you steady, as for you not to hurt yourself.
"YOU CUT MY HAIR!" You snarled, facially you show your disgust and he tenses, dipping his head and apologising, you had had enough. "I can't breathe!" You whine, suddenly falling to him for support again. Not once did he push you away, this man sure is something. "I need some air.. Fresh air!" You declare, he nods, taking you by the wrists, gently walking you to the lift, "how can I trust you?!" You whine eager for this to be a lie, a terrible, terrible nightmare you'll wake up from, next to V, next to the man you love (though of course will never admit to it).
"I'll take you to the roof, this elevator will take us-" he offered, you being too out of breath and too fearful to refuse, obliged and dramatically shoved away from him once in the elevator.
You try to collect your bearings, your lungs screaming for air, head dizzied to the moon and back.
Once you had some sort of balance, you say, "it's so dark... And cold...." This caused V to turn his head in worry as you shrank to the floor, curling into your own embrace, shivering. His worry and guilt strangling his movements, like ivy about a tree. Reaching for you, you swat his gloved hands and say in a tone so cold even V felt like a complete stranger to you, "Don't. Touch. Me." Cowering from you, he stood adjacent to you. The elevator nears its top level. The silence and suffocatingly tense air, once so stagnant, now being vacuumed from the silver man made cage.
You flung yourself out, not once giving V the chance to even try to help you. Your legs giving out, bones of your knees and ankles click and crack audibly, stifled cringes emitting from V's never faltering stature, now seen to be filled with bullet wounds and a mentally deranged, broken body, he stood behind you, a ways away from where you were, but stood near enough to catch you in case you were to collapse, again.
His kindness reaching your icy, clammed shut heart, you felt a warm fire burn in your chest but for the time being, ignored it.
V watched as you stumble, like a toddler taking its first steps in the foreign land, called home, falling only to get back up again, presenting your strength through ownership and loose morale.
The sun beams light upon the city, even with the clouds and alternating tilt of the planet, the streaks of a mass of powerful light and dying stars, gave its all, tinting clouds pink and red in its wake as the beloved, omnipotent orb of light dove deep within the horizon, only to re-appear more fragrant than the day prior. V watched your arms raised to send off the sun in its burden of waking all that lives for another day and tucking them in for the moon to escort them to sleep, with the help of the Sandman, of course. Upon seeing your action, he's taken aback by it, he sees you as him, like upon lark hill... But your elegance and grief being the build of a new you. He felt so small, in the presence of your new self being reborn, before his very eyes.Life truly is phenomenal.
Your once sturdy legs finally gave way. You fell to your knees, embracing the earth. You couldn't fight where you were born, you couldn't fight the past or the future, you had to learn and bow to no one, but the righteous power, deserving more credit than originally given. Time itself.
"V..." You call, he snaps from his memories and walks towards you, his walk becoming fast paced, the closer he got to you, his chest bubbling with odd feelings and a want to just hug you and never let go. "Take us home..." You say, muffling your cries. He says nothing, taking you in his arms and stiffly carrying you back to the elevator. "Never bite the hand that feeds you-" you quote, catching V off guard, he listened to your whispers as they began to slur and you fell asleep on his shoulder. He smoothes your back and fears that the worst is yet to come.
