CHAPTER FOURTEEN

First thing Luca is able to feel is pain, a throb on the left side of her head. It takes a couple of seconds to realize that it was hands shaking her that awoke her. Her eyes snap open and she is first met with Elena's brown eyes widened in fear. Luca goes to speak but Elena puts a finger against her lips, silencing her.

Luca notices the weird surroundings and finally she remembers. They had been kidnapped. She sits up as quietly as she could and takes a better look of the room. It was obviously a motel and there was a boy asleep in a chair in the middle of the room. Judging by the motel Anna had been the one who kidnapped them, which now that Luca thought about it maybe she should have warned Jeremy that his friend was a vampire, and this must be either her friend or minion. Either way Luca knew they were fucked.

Elena moves silently, stepping off the bed and slowly walking towards the door. Luca hesitantly followed her, stepping after her as they stepped over the boy's leg. They finally made it to the door and worked together to unlock it, Elena unlocking the main lock and Luca unlocking the chain bolt. Elena's hand was on the doorknob, seconds from freedom before it was cruelly swiped away.

"I wouldn't," a voice behind them says and a hand roughly grabs Luca's hair and pulls her back. Luca lets out a yelp of pain and Elena gasps as she spins around her back to the door. This guy either didn't know his own strength or he just really did not like Luca.

The man steps close to Elena and looks at her intensely. "Don't try to escape. Don't even move," he says and it takes Luca a second to realize the dumbass is trying to compel her. "Do you understand?"

Luca prays to whatever's out there that her sister was thinking the same thing she was. So when Elena whispers out, "I understand," as she tries to keep her voice from shaking, Luca wanted to kiss her beautiful little face.

The man scoffs smugly and pulls away from Elena, obviously believing she was compelled and that he was a badass. This led Luca to believe he was a new vampire, as she wasn't even a vampire and she knew that when a human is being compelled they sound like robots which -- even though she tried -- Elena did not.

Luca quickly mouths "Go" to Elena before she lets out a whimper as the man pulls her back and holds her face to his. She glares at him but when she sees him looking intently into her eyes she lets her face fall blank. "You will do exactly what I tell you and you will stay here with her," the man says and Luca can see Elena moving her hand to the door knob, getting ready .It's now or never. "Do you understand?"

"I--" Luca cuts herself off by slamming her knee in between the man's legs as hard as she can. A cheap shot but when you're fighting a vampire you got to fight dirty. The man groans and lets go of her hair to cover his junk and Elena rips open the motel door.

Luca feels her heart fill with hope as she sees the panicked look on the man's face. But before Elena can step out into the parking lot a figure pushes her back in.

God dammit.

Anna grabs Elena and Luca moves to rush forward but is grabbed by the man, fortunately for her scalp this time around her arms. Anna looks at the boy and yells, "Seriously!"

The boy tries to explain himself as he pushes Luca after the girl. "I told her not to move! I did that eye thing you taught me." The twins both struggle and try to fight back but it's a lot harder to take on two alert vampires than one dumb one.

"You forgot the lesson about vervain! They date vampires, Ben, duh," the girl lectures pushing Elena against the door. Luca stops struggling.

"Anna! Anna, right?" Luca calls out desperately. "We don't have the book or whatever the fuck it's called!"
