Johns POV

"Your table awaits, messieurs," Laff said from the doorway, bowing dramatically. Alex shyly linked his arm with Johns and they stepped inside, looking around in wonder at the sight in front of them.

There were candles scattered around the kitchen, lighting the room beautifully. Laff had taken the table out of the kitchen, instead leaving two nice barstools around the kitchen counter.

A small vase with a single rose sat in the middle of the counter. John smiled, seeing that there were rose petals scattered about the room, which was probably Hercs idea.

"Right this way!" Laff bowed, letting his French accent surface. He led them to their seats, Herc and Peggy close behind them.

Laff opened the oven and pulled out a dish of lasagna, serving some onto two large glass plates before setting them in front of John and Alex with napkins. Herc pulled out two wine glasses, which his boyfriend then filled with some drink from an expensive looking bottle.

"What is this?" John asked, raising an eyebrow curiously.

"Jus de pomme," Laff chirped, pushing out his chest proudly.

"Sounds fancy," John breathed, impressed with the French drink. Alex giggled softly, shaking his head at John with a smile. John shrugged not understanding at all.

"Well leave you to it!" Peggy beamed, pulling Herc and Laff out of the room.

How did y'all even become friends? Alex smiled, eyes sparkling happily. John loved seeing him smile.

"Well... about that," John said nervously, pushing his lasagna around with his fork. "In freshman year, Laff and I were in class one day when I asked to go to the bathroom." John paused nervously, piquing Alex's interest.

Go on, Alex urged, taking a bite of his food.

"I may or may not have stolen some beer from my father, which I drank in the bathroom," John blurted, causing Alex to shake his head at him amusedly. "Well apparently I was in there for a long time, cause Laff found me sitting there with a bottle in my hand. I guess I was kinda tipsy."

"HE WAS COMPLETELY WASTED!" came a French voice from the hall.

John rolled his eyes playfully, mouthing 'I was not' to Alex. "Well, being the helpful and supportive friend he was, he asked me for a bottle and then got drunk with me. Pretty soon, Herc came into to use the bathroom and ended up joining us," he explained.

John leaned back in his chair, smiling as he remembered that day. He took a quick sip of his jus de pomme and was confused by its familiar taste.

What about Peggy? Alex asked curiously, finishing off his lasagna. Johns was almost gone too, seeing as Laff was an amazing cook.

"Well, a little bit before the final bell rang we left the bathroom, screaming 'SHOWTIME' at the top of our lungs. Luckily, nobody was in the hall except for Peggy. She smacked us all before dragging us outside of the school. We've all been best friends ever since."

Alex looked down at his lap with a frown and started messing with the hem of his shirt. "What's wrong, Lex?" John asked worriedly.

I've been such a burden on y'all already, Alex signed, staring down at his lap. John frowned and squeezed his boyfriend's hand from across the counter.

"Hey, don't say that. You're not a burden to us. Not at all. None of the things that have happened to you are your fault. Burr and Lee are the burdens, okay? You've done nothing but make us happier."

Alex nodded, giving John a weak smile. John's heart sped up and he leaned forward, placing a gentle kiss on Alex's lips.

"Raise a glass to the two of us!" John beamed, holding up his glass of jus de pomme. Alex giggled softly, clinking his glass to Johns. They both downed the rest of their drinks and pushed their empty plates into the center of the counter.

A few minutes later Laff entered the kitchen and took away their plates. Peggy came in behind him, standing by the fridge professionally. "Right this way to the ballroom, sirs!" she smiled, leading them into the living room.

The couch was pushed back against the far wall, leaving a large open space in the middle of the room. "I made the perfect playlist for y'all!" Peggy beamed, setting a speaker on the coach.

The song 'Guns and Ships' from the musical Miranda began to play loudly, and John and Alex's eyes both lit up excitedly. Peggy left the room, leaving the boys alone.

"What a romantic song!" John said sarcastically, giving Alex a mischievous look. Alex caught on quickly and pretty soon they were slow dancing to the fast paced song.

They made a game of it, dancing slowly to the fast songs and dancing wildly to the slow songs like 'Dear Lucille Ruby'. Then the song 'Leslie Odom, sir' came on and the boys began to act it out.

Pardon me, are you Leslie Odom, sir?
Alex mouthed.

That depends, who's asking? John smiled, playing along.

Oh, well sure, sir! I'm Lin-Manuel Miranda, I'm at your service, sir! I have been looking for you! Alex mouthed, looking to his boyfriend excitedly.

They continued throughout the entire song before collapsing on the floor in giggles. Alex laid his head in John's lap, smiling up at him. That was a lot of fun, he signed.

"Yeah, it was," John breathed, kissing the smaller boy softly on the forehead just as the song 'Helpless' came on. John laid down, cuddling his boyfriend against himself.

Eventually, Herc peeked his head in and found them asleep on the floor. Herc took a quick picture of them before grabbing Peggy and Laff.

Peggy stopped the music while Laff grabbed the hidden camera from behind a nearby picture frame. Herc made sure to carefully place a pillow under John's head and a blanket over them both.

Then the three of them left, leaving the blissfully unaware boys on the floor alone.

To those of you didn't know, jus de pomme means apple juice in French. (At least that's what google translate told me) Anyways, I feel like my friends would probably try and set up a hilarious date like this for me and my nonexistent boyfriend 😂

QOTD: Would you set up a date for your friends like Laff or like Peggy?

Thanks for reading! -SunkissedChild5
