Harumi was sitting on the couch, phone in hand, and giggling at whatever was on the screen. Lloyd looked over at her, his brow raised in question. Lloyd couldn't help but be curious about what was amusing Harumi so much. He leaned in slightly, a playful smile on his face, and asked, "What's so funny? Mind sharing the joke?"

Harumi looked up from her phone, still grinning, and said, "Oh, it's just a friend. He's hilarious, he just sent me a couple of pictures of the aftermath of his pie-making contest."
Lloyd chuckled, intrigued by the mention of a pie-making contest. "Pie-making contest? That sounds like an interesting story. What happened? Did he win, or was it a pie-tastrophe?"

Harumi burst into laughter at Lloyd's pun, and she replied, "Oh, you have no idea! Apparently, they got a little carried away with the flour, and soon it turned into an all-out flour fight. Picture flour everywhere, on the walls, the floor, and, of course, all over them. It was like a snowy battlefield but with pies in the mix."

Lloyd grinned, he never would have guessed that she was so easy to amuse before her redemption, but something in the back of his mind couldn't help but feel like this other guy was trying to get with Harumi.

Lloyd, still smiling, couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy at the thought of someone else making Harumi laugh like that. However, he pushed the feeling aside, not wanting to let it spoil the lighthearted moment.

"Sounds like a messy yet hilarious adventure," Lloyd remarked, trying to stay casual. "I've never thought of pie-making turning into a flour fight, but hey, creativity knows no bounds."

Harumi nodded, wiping away tears of laughter from her eyes. "Right? It was unexpected, but sometimes those are the best moments. You should have seen the photos; they looked like flour-covered warriors in a dessert war."

Lloyd chuckled, although it held a tone of resentment. "So do I ever get to meet this friend?"

Harumi grinned, picking up on Lloyd's subtle change in tone. "Oh, absolutely! You'd love him. He's got this incredible sense of humor and a knack for turning ordinary moments into unforgettable adventures. Actually, I'm meeting him for coffee tomorrow, maybe you can come along."

Lloyd's initial jealousy was now tinged with a mixture of relief and excitement at the invitation. He masked his emotions with a casual smile and replied, "Sure, why not? I'd love to meet the mastermind behind the great flour war. Coffee sounds good, and I could use some laughter in my life too."

Harumi beamed at Lloyd's response, seemingly oblivious to any underlying tension. "Great! It's a plan then. You'll get to experience the full force of his humor."

The next morning the couple sat in a coffee shop chatting until Harumi saw the person that they were meeting up with. "Caleb, over here," Harumi said standing up and waving the brunette over.

Caleb approached the table with a friendly smile, and Harumi introduced him to Lloyd. "Lloyd, this is Caleb. Caleb, meet Lloyd, the man I was telling you about."

Lloyd extended his hand, shaking Caleb's with a friendly greeting. "Nice to finally meet you. Harumi has been raving about your flour war adventure. Sounds like it was quite the spectacle."

Caleb chuckled, "Oh, that flour fight was legendary. You should have seen us, covered head to toe. It took us days to clean up, but it was totally worth it."

"Oh, by the way Rumi, love the outfit. I think red is a great color for you." Caleb commented as he sat down. Lloyd glared at Caleb, his mind forced on one thing. Not only is he calling her Rumi, but he complimented her outfit. Does this guy have no shame?

Lloyd maintained a polite smile, though inside, he couldn't shake the twinge of discomfort at Caleb's familiarity and compliment toward Harumi. He glanced at Harumi, who seemed unfazed by Caleb's comment and decided to play it cool.

"So Caleb, what are your hobbies," Lloyd asked, his eye twitching as he facked the friendly behavior.

Caleb leaned back in his chair, seemingly oblivious to any tension. "Well, aside from engaging in epic flour fights, I'm into photography and hiking. I love capturing moments and turning them into stories. And of course, I enjoy making people laugh, just like with the pie-making escapade."

Lloyd nodded, maintaining his friendly facade. "That's cool. Photography is a great way to preserve memories. I bet you have some interesting stories to tell through your photos."

As the conversation continued, Lloyd couldn't help but feel a bit uneasy. He observed the easy camaraderie between Harumi and Caleb, wondering if there was more to their friendship than met the eye. Still, he tried to focus on the conversation, reminding himself not to jump to conclusions.

"I got to head to the restroom for a second, try not to have too much fun without me," Caleb joked, giving Lloyd a window of hope, If he chose his words carefully he would be able to voice his concerns to Harumi.

As Caleb excused himself, Lloyd took a deep breath, contemplating how to express his feelings without causing unnecessary tension. When Caleb was out of earshot, Lloyd turned to Harumi with a gentle smile.

"Harumi, can I talk to you about something for a moment?" he asked, trying to keep his tone casual.

"Of course, Lloyd. What's on your mind?" Harumi responded, her expression warm and open.

Lloyd hesitated for a moment before speaking. "I couldn't help but notice that Caleb seems quite close to you. I mean, calling you 'Rumi' and complimenting your outfit... Is there something more between you two?"

Harumi's eyes widened in surprise, and then she burst into laughter. "Oh, Lloyd, no, not at all! Caleb and I are just really good friends. We've known each other for years. Besides, there's no way he'd be interested in me, he's gay."

Lloyd's face relaxed, the tension easing from his shoulders as he processed Harumi's words. He chuckled, feeling a mix of relief and slight embarrassment for jumping to conclusions.

"Ah, my bad. I guess I let my imagination run wild for a moment there," he admitted, scratching his head sheepishly. "I just didn't want to assume anything. Thanks for clearing that up."

Harumi grinned, understanding his concern. "No worries, Lloyd. I appreciate that you care enough to ask. Caleb and I are just like siblings, really. Now, let's not keep him waiting; he might think we're plotting against him or something." They both laughed and as Caleb returned to the table, Lloyd couldn't help but feel grateful for the open communication.

As Lloyd and Harumi walked home Harumi couldn't help but tease Lloyd about his previous jealousy. Harumi chuckled as they walked side by side. "Jealous much, Lloyd? Didn't think I had it in me to make you worry like that."

Lloyd rolled his eyes, trying to play it off with a smirk. "Please, I wasn't jealous. Just being a good detective, you know? Gotta make sure my partner in crime isn't getting too friendly with other masterminds."

Harumi nudged him playfully. "Partner in crime, huh? I like the sound of that."

Lloyd sighed, not fazed by Harumi's response. "Of course, you would little miss criminal."

The banter continued as they walked, the earlier tension now replaced with light-hearted teasing. Lloyd realized that communication was key, and he appreciated Harumi's openness in addressing his concerns. As they approached their home, he couldn't help but smile at the thought of the playful dynamic they shared.

The events of the day served as a reminder that trust and communication were vital in any relationship. Lloyd felt a renewed sense of connection with Harumi, understanding that their journey together involved navigating not only external challenges but also the internal uncertainties that arose from their pasts.

As they entered the monastery, Lloyd couldn't resist one last playful remark. "So, partner in crime, any more 'flour fights' in our future?"

Harumi grinned, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Who knows, Lloyd? The best adventures are the ones we never see coming. But for now, how about we make dinner instead of causing chaos in the kitchen?"

Lloyd chuckled, realizing that life with Harumi was anything but predictable. As they headed to the kitchen, he couldn't help but feel grateful for the laughter, the challenges, and the unexpected moments that made their partnership all the more intriguing.
