Kyra grew up in Volterra and met Demetri after she got lost when she was only a few years old. Her parents were either drunk or on business trips, which left her to watch out for herself. Demetri, who felt the Mate-pull immediately, brought her home safely and waited until she slept before he ran back to the castle informing his Masters about her. They allowed him to see her and eventually he bring her to the castle, which he did about two years later; she was seven at the time. Surprisingly, it was Marcus, who formed a father-daughter bond with her, which helped him a little with his depression. Around her he started to talk a little more and a year later, Kyra got him to laugh for the first time in centuries, which made Caius respect and warm up to her a little more. Not that Caius would admit it, but he enjoyed the presence of the little free-spirit. Aro's and her relationship is complicated, according to Marcus it is something he has never seen before, in a positive way. When Kyra turned nine even the witch twins seemed to warm up on her, after she draw a cute little picture of the two of them as a present, besides it being her birthday. Felix, having known her since before Demetri brought her to the castle, having watched over her while her Mate was on missions, and Kyra have a bond like the masters, making him her soul-brother. At the time she turned twelve, Kyra had the whole castle wrapped around her little finger without noticing. It was the year they told her what they were, since she has never asked. Aro saw in her thoughts, that she noticed their difference but he also saw, that she didn't want to ask, since she believed it was none of her business. Because, even at a very young age, Kyra has been pretty mature, due to the fact, that her parents weren't around and she had to do everything alone. Well, until she met the Volturi.

Kyra got that necklace from Marcus and never takes it off. Marcus choses a sun because he calls her his sunshine.

Demetri got her and him those bracelets before she had to go to America. she doesn't take them off either.
