Chapter 28

The guard watches as Edward, Bella and Seth join the others; and they also observe as Jacob gets hurt due to a newborn they overlooked.

To be honest, Kyra really wanted to go help him but for one, Demetri held her back; for another, she knew he'd hate her or rather what she'd become and for a last, she wants to wait another second before she'll have to listen to Isabella's blames, hate and rage.

"Let's go."
Jane's sweet voice pulls her out of her thoughts and the four of them follow after the Blonde as they make their way through the last meters of the woods.

Alec is walking next to her; their feet moving in sync and their eyes fixed on the Clan in front of them that is slowly getting in position as well.

Though, to be honest their line-up isn't the smartest. Kyra gets that Carlisle and Esme at the front, they are the leader after all – even though it may seem that Edward is making most of their decision for them all.

But what she doesn't get is why Edward and Bella are standing at his side; if they were to attack, they wouldn't stand a chance like this. It's the same as Alice and Rosalie. Why are they at the front? And why aren't Jasper and Emmett?

Jasper would be the smartest option to stand by Carlisle's side; he does have quite some experience with fighting and from what she heard he isn't the worst at it as well.
Emmett would make sense as well; his strength could help him take them down, if they'd start a fight.

But the worst thing is, they separated the couples from each other. If it were to come down to an attack from the Volturi, Emmett's and Jasper's priority should lay by Alice and Rosalie, which would have them distracted and that would be a weak spot the Guard could use for their advantage.

Stopping in front of them, Kyra unconsciously moves closer to Demetri, who wraps his arm around her protectively as soon as he recognizes Isabella's glare on her. Glaring back at her, he is slightly surprised that Edward doesn't seem to mind it; in fact, Edward looks like he's pushing her towards them rather than protecting her.

"What the hell do you want?"
Isabella spits out while she crosses her arms.

"Watch your tongue, human."
Alec bites back; ready to defend his friend. Felix got ready to step in as well after glancing over to Kyra, who straightens her posture as her red eyes bore into Bella's brown ones.

"Please. We do not wish to fight."
Carlisle gains their attention.

"It is great to see you again, Kyra."
Esme smiles as well; the ginger returning the smile with one of her own.

"You too, Esme. The dark hair suits you."
the newborn means gently.

"Immortality becomes you, little devil."
Emmett booms from behind his mother figure; her eyes turning to glare at him.

"Don't be nice to her. why are you nice to her?"
Bella jumps in again.

"Isabella."
Edward warns her in a low tone.

Rolling her eyes, she lets out a huff before turning back to glaring at her cousin, who's still leaning against Demetri in a comfortable way.

"Looks like we missed the best part?"
Jane changes the topic back to the reason as to why they are here. She really wants to go back home.

"But it seems like you didn't need any help either."
she adds as she leans her head to the sight of it.

The feigned confusion and innocent doesn't fool anyone and yet it makes her look quite powerful. The way she's able to keep so calm and superior even though, she has the appearance of a young Teenager and the looks of an angel gives her a power some people could only wish to uphold.
