Chapter 10

I looked up and dad had his hand on Ahlume’s neck holding him against the wall, Ahlume was holding dad’s hand trying to break free from his grip, he was even pink trying to catch his breath. Ahlume looked at me and I looked at him and ran to them

“dad let him go” I said trying to pull him away. It was as though he couldn’t hear me, he had veins popping out of his neck and on his hands “Daddy please.” I begged. He turned to me and he had veins popping below his eyes with his eye colour suddenly red and nothing like I had ever seen before, he had fangs and he was a monster I could barely recognise. I moved back in fear “your face” I said moving backwards scared. I ran out and bumped into mom in the passage making her drop the tray she was carrying

“Anelisa!” she said, she came down as soon as she saw how frightened I was “Baby what’s wrong?” She was holding my shoulders looking at me in the eyes trying to search for the truth I guess

“Lisa” Ahlume said trying to catch his breath coughing

“Anelisa” dad said walking in after Ahlume

His eyes were back to normal.

 

What did I see? What had happened back there? The look I had seen on his face was one I only ever saw in vampire movies. I knew he was a vampire but mom told me that he had suppressed his vampire nature. If his nature was so suppressed, then how come it was able to unsuppress itself towards my boyfriend?

 

“ready to go babe?” Ahlume asked looking straight at me

Ahlume brought me peace, he gave me a peace of mind like never before. Looking into his eyes I was able to calm down and not be so scared anymore. I nodded

“Lisa baby what’s wrong? What happened? Travis?” she asked turning to my father

I walked out and stood by his car.

 

I was still traumatised by the man who was my father, how could he do that? how could he look like a monster one minute and then the next he was back to normal?

 

The minute he made his way to me I threw myself in his arms and he hugged me even tighter and spun me around “I missed you too beautiful” he said breaking the hug

I faked a smile “please just take me away from here”

He opened the door for me and then he drove off. he placed his hand on mine and then took it to his lips and placed a kiss on it and didn’t say anything. He drove off for longer than 30 minutes I was even worried now because we were leaving Durban but I trusted him and I knew he wouldn’t hurt me. I didn’t need to know him for forever for me to be certain that he would never hurt me. he parked in front of what looked like a cliff. It was the most beautiful and calm place I had ever seen in my life. There was so much life in that place and there was a lot of trees surrounding the road to it.

“and this?” I asked turning to him

He smiled “this is my thinking spot”
