“you gotta live a little sweet lips. Can I kiss my lips now?” he asked making me look up at him
“if you think it possible” I said with a smile
“you silly you know that? Can I kiss your lips then?” he said emphasizing ‘your’
I nodded and he kissed me deepening it. we broke it after a while “eeuw” I said
“that’s your vagina you tasting. Don’t say eeeuw!” he said with a smirk
I giggled, my boyfriend was something else. He made me too happy and so content. As we were sitting like that there was a knock on his door
“who is it?” he asked sounding really annoyed
“the person who gave birth to you! why is your door locked?” the person responded
He just laughed but I didn’t find it funny at all, my heart rate was literally on a 1000 bpm
“its Mile chill” he said
My heart rate slowly started decreasing. He got up and I fixed my skirt, he looked at me and then threw me the red throw sitting on his bed and I covered myself.
God this guy, was it necessary?
He opened the door “What do you want?”
“let me in” his brother said pushing him out of the way “what are you hiding? I saw the school bag in your backseat. You got a girl in here”
“so what if I do?” I asked mnot moving aside for his brother
Ahlumile budged in and Ahlume sighed in defeat “happy?”
Ahlumile smiled “hello beautiful”
I returned the smile “hi”
He sat on the edge of the bed “you beautiful. How old are you?”
“nigga say what you were here to say and then leave” Ahlume said walking towards him
“I was going to invite you to a party but you busy.” He said looking at me “See you around pretty face”
“party where and what time?”
Ahlumile raised an eyebrow “isn’t Missy sleeping over?”
Ahlume looked at me and shook his head “she would never.”
At least he knew me that well
“ayt. I’ll tell you later. Bye pretty face.” He blew me a kiss before walking out
God they looked alike and their voices sounded the same.
“so you also have a doppelganger” I said with a smile
He chuckled “yeah one I share blood and parents with. he can be a flirt but he’s a great person”
I nodded “I see. My phone”
He nodded “oh right. you can always use mine” he said giving me his big iPhone and then walked out… I unlocked it and I was his wallpaper, a picture of me I never thought existed from the time we were at the mountains. I was tempted to go through his picture and so I did, he had a folder titled ‘Sweet Lips’, I chuckled and opened it and he had a lot of pictures of me and of us.
We looked good together!
A WhatsApp text came through from Snalo ‘Ahlume where are you? I need you’. he told me about her and I was tempted to respond but I let it be and continued viewing our pictures and smiling alone. Another text came through from the same person ‘Ahlume please’ and then she called. I didn’t know whether to answer his phone or not. I let it wrong and then she dropped it, it rang again and then he walked in carrying a tray
“please answer that or me” He said closing the door with his foot
“its Sinalo” I said
“so? Answer her and put her on speaker” he said walking towards the bed
I answered the phone
“Ahlume where are you? I need you” She sounded like she was crying or something
“Sinalo calm down. Just breathe ok. What’s going on?” he asked panicking and with clear concern plastered on his face
He placed the tray down and took the phone from me
“there’s so much blood Ahlume. I’m scared” she responded
He walked towards the window “you not making any sense. Where are you?”
“I’m in my room. I’m scared” she sniffed still crying in pain
He huffed “I’ll be there now”. He dropped the call and turned to me “I have to go to Berea”
I nodded “oh”
“I can leave you here or you can come with” he said wearing his sneakers
I raised an eyebrow “or you can drop me off at my father’s place. It’s on the way”
He sighed and then helped me up and gave me my phone and with that we both walked out in silence.
His ex or whatever she is to him needed him and who was I to argue with him?
We got to his car and he kissed my cheek “you ok?”
I nodded “yeah”
There was silence as he started the car. We parked in front of dad’s house and I opened the door
“I’ll call you later yeah” he said
I nodded again “sure”
I walked to the gate and punched in the code and got inside the yard and that’s when he drove off.
I don’t know why I was hurt but I know I was hurt. I didn’t think he would leave me for her, guess I was wrong.
When I got inside the house was empty so I went to take off my uniform and changed into more comfortable clothes before heading downstairs to watch tv. I went to make a sandwich and then called mom while settling on the couch
“Mom” I said
“hello my baby. I thought you were coming over after school” she said sounding a little disappointed
I sighed “Ahlume happened, I’m sorry”
She chuckled “its ok, atleast you two fixed things” I sighed “haibo Lisa whats wrong honey?”
I shrugged as though she sould see me “he ran to another girl’s rescue while he was with me, the same girl he told me he was screwing before I came into the picture”
She kept quiet for a while before saying anything “maybe the girl is in trouble”
“I don’t know. I guess I’m just being jealous that’s all” I said trying to convince myself
She giggled “its ok to be a little jealous but Ahlume loves you baby” she defended
I nodded “I need a distraction, so have you found anything?”
She was looking into what Ahlume had told me about him transitioning
“yes and that woman lied”
I raised an eyebrow “what do you mean she lied? What did she lie about?”
“Well wolf can become a hybrid only if they drink vampire blood and blood of a doppelganger” I kept quiet trying to process what mom had just told me “what
Ahlume told you is a lie, a lie which he was told by his grandmother. She probably wants to sacrifice you in order for more power or something along those lines but and a child of a doppelganger and werewolf would be one of the strongest being to ever live so hence the lie” she said
My phone vibrated and I removed it to check who was calling “mom Ahlume is calling me, I’ll call you later”
“of cause honey. Be careful Anelisa” she said before dropping the call
OK! that was strange. She’s never warned me before unless she dreamt of something or she felt like something was going to happen to me
I answered his call “what?”
“and then what’s up with you?” he asked
knowing him he probably had a raised eyebrow looking at me like I was high on something
“you Ahlume. You are what’s up with me!” I claimed
“she’s dead.” he said calmly “you don’t have to worry about her anymore!”
I kept quiet regretting what I had just said and how I had reacted to the matter “I’m sorry.” I said humbled “how are you holding up?”
“I just want to lay on your boobs and forget all of it” he said
I took a deep breath and let it out “where are you now?”
“I’m in town on my way to Glen Ashley” he said sounding really down
“pick me up on your way home”
“ok thank you. bye Sweet lips” he said ending the call
I sighed with a heavy heart.
I was a terrible person. I should have acted differently, I heard her crying but I was still caught up in my own feelings and now she was gone. maybe if I hadn’t acted out Ahlume would have probably got to her earlier. Maybe her death was on my hands
After a while he sent a text telling me he was outside. I switched off the tv, took my phone and house keys and
made my way to him. he was parked in front of the gate this time around I opened the door and pulled him to my arms
“I’m so sorry Ace” I apologised rubbing his back
“its ok. thank you Sweet Lips” he said pulling out of the hug
His eyes were bloodshot red, he was really hurt and seeing him in that state broke my heart into a million pieces.
“I bought food, I’m sure you haven’t eaten” he said pointing at a McDonalds bag behind his seat
I smiled “you know me all too well” I pulled the paper bag and took out fries and started eating, I fed him while he drove to his home.
When we got inside the yard the jeep was parked right where we were parked earlier on, I saw him tense up, gripping the steering wheel tight
“is everything ok?” I asked unsure
“mom’s home” he said turning the engine off
I literally went cold. He was not serious, he couldn’t possibly be serious, I was not ready to meet mother in law just yet.
“let’s go in” he said turning to me
I raised an eyebrow “what about your mom?”
He smiled “she’ll ask questions but it won’t be anything bad. I’ll tell her I’m your tutor” I chuckled “come let’s go inside.” He said opening his door
He walked to my side and helped me out. I actually got to see the beauty of the house from the outside considering how earlier on I couldn’t because I was a sac of potatoes on his shoulder. We walked to the house carrying the food, he opened and his mom and an elderly woman were in the kitchen talking, I suddenly felt myself getting really dizzy, I started feeling really hot
“Ahlume” I whined holding onto him and with that I was out of it
