Nara Shikamaru x Reader

Ever heard of a certain taboo? That falling in love with your sibling is a taboo? You have always thought that it's stupid to fall in love with your own sibling.

Besides, you practically thought that it was impossible. Though, that was exactly what happened to you.

Your mother died when you were young, leaving your father and you. Things started to change when your father had remarried and you gained a brother name Shikamaru.

Your brother was a really lazy boy but has an IQ of almost 200. You often ask him to tutor you which he complains that's it's a drag.

Over the years, you had grown close to Shikamaru. More like too close for comfort. By the time you were in high school, you started developing feelings for him.

And that thought alone scared you. Because of the taboo of falling in love with your sibling. It's been about five years since and the two of you were in university now.

And it just so happens that you and Shikamaru ended up in the same University, Konoha University. Though you were relieved that he's in a different class.

"Y/N-chan?" You look away from your textbook to see Hyuga Hinata, your closest friend.

"Hinata-chan, good morning!" You greeted.

"Good morning to you too Y/N-chan. By the way, does Shikamaru have a girlfriend?" Hinata suddenly ask.

"Ehh? Not that I know of. Why you ask?" You ask.

"These days, I've been seeing Shikamaru with an upper-class woman" says Hinata.

"R-Really? I-I have no idea" You said while deep down, your heart was aching.

"Are you alright Y/N-chan? You seem pretty pale" Hinata ask.

"Sorry for worrying you Hinata-chan but I'm fine" You assured.

Hinata simply nodded as lecture soon started. However, you couldn't really focus as what Hinata said was bothering you.

Later when lunch came, you debated whether or not to see Shikamaru. You sighed and eventually go to see him.

When you did find him, your eyes widen as he was talking to an upper-class woman by the name Temari. You then felt jealous and hurt.

"Shika..." You then force yourself to turn away as you hide and cry in the washroom.

A few days later, you woke up coughing blood which later you puke out flowers. Your eyes widen and your body was shaking with fear.

"T-This can't be! I-It's t-taboo!" You cried.

You couldn't believe that you had developed the mythical disease known as Hakanaki. You thought it wouldnt happen because it's just a myth.

Oh how wrong you were. After falling in love with your step brother and founding out you have hakanaki for him took a toll on you.

"Oi Y/N. Don't you have lessons in two hours? If you don't leave now you'll be late" You hear Shikamaru says.

"I-I'm staying home today!" You said.

"Wha? Are you sick or something? What a drag. I'll get you some medicine alright?" Shikamaru says.

"Oh Shika... If only you knew" You mumbled.

As days past, your Hakanaki was getting worse. Fortunately, Shikamaru hasn't find out about it yet but Hinata did.

"You need to tell Shikamaru!" Says Hinata.

"Hinata-chan I can't! Shikamaru is my step brother! Me falling in love with him is taboo!" You cried out.

"Y/N-chan, you can't control your heart and feelings. It doesn't matter if it's taboo or not. You love Shikamaru don't you?

If you don't tell him soon, you could die from this disease! I suggest you do it fast though" says Hinata.

"Why? What's the use?" You ask.

"I heard that Temari-senpai might be confessing to Shikamaru today and... He seems to love her too" says Hinata anxiously.

You simply remain silent and pondered about Hinata's words. Later that day, you his behind a tree where Temari and Shikamaru are said to be meeting.

"Shikamaru, you really came!" You hear Temari exclaim.

"You did call me after all. What is it though?" Shikamaru ask.

"Well... The thing is... I... I like you Shikamaru so... Will you be my boyfriend?"

Deep down, you were praying hard that you wouldn't hear those words. Shikamaru remained silent which scared you more.

"What a drag but I'm sorry Temari. I have to reject you" says Shikamaru.

Your eyes widen.

"I see. I'd knew you have a girl you love. I hope she accepts you. But, friends?" Temari says.

"Friends"

Later when Temari left, you sigh of relief but Shikamaru hasn't left yet which made you worry.

"Come out Y/N. I know you're there" says Shikamaru.

"E-Ehh? How did you..."

"Baka, I already know you were here from the beginning" says Shikamaru.

"G-Gomen..." You said while avoiding eye contact with him.

"*sigh* Why didn't you tell me?" Shikamaru ask.

"Nani?"

"About your disease" Your eyes widen.

"Did Hinata-chan tell you?" You ask.

"Huh? No. I saw some flower petals in your room and it's really strange. You've got the disease because of me right?" Shikamaru ask.

You remained silent. Shikamaru indeed does have an IQ of 200. He even figured everything out.

"I really like you Shika... But... Falling in love with your sibling is taboo! So... I never said anything" You said softly.

Shikamaru got closer to you as he pulls you into a hug which took you by surprise.

"Neither have I" Shikamaru says.

"Shikamaru..."

"I love you Y/N" says Shikamaru and that made you really happy that you cried tears of joy.

"I love you too Shika but... Is this really alright?" You ask.

"It's fine" says Shikamaru and you hug him close to you, never wanting to let him go.
