Sai x Reader

You were formerly a member of the Anbu Black Ops Root when you had left by the time you were a Chunin. You left a month after Itachi joined.

You had left because of personal reasons but you were great friends with your captain Kakashi. Today, you were over at the Yamanaka Flower Shop.

"Ino-chan, I need a bouquet of [favourite flowers] please!" You hollered.

"Ah Y/N-san! No problem!" Says Ino.

"Arigatou Ino-chan, I'll be going now" You said and left.

You went to the cemetry and set the flowers on your late mother's grave. Your mother had died due to old age and plus the fact that she was 50 when she gave birth to you.

She had married late and your father died before you were born. You only knew that your father was an ordinary citizen while your mother was a retired Chunin.

After setting down the flowers and wiping your mother's grave, you left to take a stroll around Konoha. You then encounter an angry-looking Naruto and Sakura.

"Sakura-chan, Naruto-kun, what's with the angry faces?" You ask.

"Y/N-san! Listen, our team's got a replacement and he has a major attitude problem!" Sakura complains.

"Sakura-chan is right-dattebayo! He said he was a former Anbu root or something" says Naruto.

"Hmm, I wonder who could he be" You mumbled.

"He's so blunt. He called me ugly! Ugly Y/N-san!" Sakura exclaims angrily.

"Whoever he is he must be blind. Sakura-chan is a beauty in comparison to Ino-chan and Hinata-chan" You stated.

"I just don't like him. He's just a replacement for Sasuke..." Naruto says.

The mood was suddenly down at the mention of Sasuke. He left Konoha and has been about three years or so.

"Naruto-kun, I believe that you'll be able to bring him back. He's your friend isn't he?" You said while putting my hand on his shoulder.

"I won't give up till I bring Sasuke back to the village-dattebyo!" You smiled.

"That's the spirit. Anyways, I'll be going now" You said and left.

You ended up by a lake not far away. You also noticed someone was there too. You walk closer only to find out who he is.

"Sai!" You exclaimed.

The shinobi named Sai turns around and his eyes widen.

"Wait, aren't you Y/N?" He ask.

"Sai, what're you doing here? I haven't seen you in so long!" You exclaimed and gave him a hug to which he doesn't return.

"I was summoned to be on a new Team, Team 7" He says.

"Team 7? So you're the one who called Sakura-chan ugly..." You said.

"You know them?" He ask.

"They're my friends Sai. And Sakura-chan isn't ugly!" You said.

"Friends? What are friends?" Sai ask and your eyes softened.

"Sai, are you still part of the Anbu root?" You ask.

"Of course I am, by Danzo-sama's orders, I'm now a member of Team 7" says Sai and you sighed.

"Sai, do you know why I left the Anbu years ago?" You ask.

"I don't. I've always wanted to ask you. After Nii-san died, you were always there for me, until you left" says Sai.

"I had a reason. I just couldn't stay there anymore. I'd rather give up being an Anbu than to forget my emotions" You said as you had a flashback to the day you were offered to become an official member of the Anbu...

"Y/N, your performance within the Root is excellent" Danzo praised.

"I humbly thank you, Danzo-sama" You said.

"Here's an opportunity for you, for you to become an official member of the Anbu Black Ops" says Danzo.

"Arigatou Danzo-sama!" You exclaimed but Danzo's expression remains unchanged.

"However" He says.

"You should know that you can't hace any emotions. You'll have to learn how to discard those emotions away" says Danzo and your eyes widen.

"I have to erase my emotions?" You ask.

"The only way to be an official Anbu member is to discard those feelings" says Danzo.

Later, Danzo had given a day to consider. You ended up leaving the Anbu and became a regular kunoichi but you had remain friends with Kakashi and Itachi.

"Sai, I'd rather you leave the Anbu" You said softly.

"You know I can't do that" says Sai.

"I know I can't change your mind but at least... Let me love you" You said and Sai's eyes widen.

"Love...?"

"We can take it slow Sai. You cna start by being nice to Sakura-chan and Naruto-kun. I'll get going now" You said and was preparing to leave.

"Y/N!" Sai called.

"Hai?"

"Will I see you again?" Sai asked and you smiled.

"Of course Sai"
