Did You Know?

* In 2001, The Netherlands was the first country to allow same-sex marriage.

*Records of same-sex relationships have been found in cultures throughout history. As it happens, this may be recorded as far back as the ancient Egyptians. Some scholars propose that the first evidence of a homosexual couple was recorded in 2400 BCE between two servants named Khnumhotep and Niankhnum.

* The word "lesbian" derives from the Greek island of Lesbos, which was home Sappho, an ancient Greek poetess. It is widely regarded that her poetry alluded to her appreciation of female beauty and romantic feelings between women.
