A tired yawn escaped you as you stirred awake. The morning sun streaming through the window and into your half lidded eyes, warning you that you needed to leave immediately. You shot up, clutching the blanket to your chest, and cursed loudly. Plenty of people would be awake by now and make things much harder for you.
You left the comfort of feather pillows and a warm blanket behind to slip on your dress, that was discarded on the floor. Hands clumsily tying and buttoning up your outfit. Each time your fingers stumbled you whispered crude words under your breath. Careful not to wake the very man you had spent nearly every night with. Tangled up and lost in one another as you forgot all responsibilities and stresses of court.
Jaime woke up with a groan and was half surprised to see you in his chambers. Sitting on the edge of his bed whilst putting on your shoes. An easy smile graced his lips as he watched you rush. You were always gone before he woke up and he used this rare opportunity to drink up the sight of you. The curve of your neck. The sweet sound of you mumbling to yourself. Your skin glowing in the morning light.
He silently climbed to the other side of the bed, taking you off guard as he slipped his arms around your waist. Face nuzzled into the crook of your neck and lips grazing the sensitive skin. "Thinking of going somewhere?"
"I need to leave before anyone can see me." You sighed softly as he pressed a firmer kiss on your neck and you tilted your head to allow him more access whilst he pulled the collar of your dress down. Your eyes slipping shut for a moment. His intoxicating attention almost broke your resolve, half tempted to climb back into bed and ignore the world outside.
Jamie trailed his kisses down to your shoulder, and he hummed against your skin, "then why not stay a little while longer. They'll all settle in the gardens or for breakfast."
"I can't." He gently bit down. It drove you crazy, sending you off into a daze though his arms anchored you to reality. "Remember what we agreed on. If Cersie finds out about you and I-"
"She won't." Jamie interrupted and spun you around to look at him. His eyes watched you softly as he tucked a strand of hair behind your ear. "And even if she does, she can't tell me to stop seeing you. No one can."
"What if they try to stop you?"
"Then I'll just have to run my sword through them."
"Even Cersie?"
He stopped for a moment. Eyes slowly blinking and he pressed his lips tightly together. It was a stupid thing to say. You knew that as soon as it left your mouth and you waited for the inevitable anger. But it never came. Instead, Jamie pressed his brow against yours whilst his hands cupped your face. He whispered, "I hold no feelings for her, not...not anymore. You are the woman I love now and I don't intend on letting you go."
"Then marry me." The words slipped out before you even registered what you had even said and the weight those words carried. You went rigid, trying to pull away from Jamie, but he held you in place as he drew his face away to look into your eyes.
An exasperated chuckle came from deep within his chest, "I thought I'm the one who's meant to propose?"
You couldn't look him in the eye and bit your lip. He continued when he noticed you weren't going to answer, "there is no higher honour than being able to call you my wife."
A burst of joy erupted inside you and you flung yourself at him smiling. Arms wrapped tightly around his neck as he fell back into the bed. You pressed kiss after kiss over his face whilst he laughed with the widest grin you'd ever seen him show. The pair of you excited for a life bound together forever.
