The silence was deafening

The silence was deafening. Although they continued to shout around me, I took no notice. It all seemed so far away from where I was. My grip on reality shattered into beautifully broken fragments. I was swimming in my own oblivion. Treading water in the pools of my deepest desires. All the noise, the tensions, everything dissipated into nothingness until all that was left was him.

All I could focus on was the man who was storming toward me. The daze I found myself in made time meaningless. Every step he took made my heart pound harder. The closer he got to me the more my body reacted to his. Suddenly, I was burning again, desperate for him to be the one to put me out of my misery.

That pull I felt toward him burrowed its self deeper than I thought possible. It pierced right through my chest and lodged itself into the center of my being. Setting me ablaze as an all-consuming wildfire swept over every cell in my body. My soul wept, calling out for it's missing piece. The part that would make me whole. The part that would calm the fires that burned beneath my skin.

He was still so far from me that it made me want to cry until my lungs gave out. I needed to be near him so I could breathe again. My body was screaming for me to run to him. To touch him in any way that I could. I sought out the solace only his arms could offer me. Every neuron and synapse in my brain pulsed and short-circuited as electric impulse after impulse bolted through me.

I tried to move, but there was something stopping me. Preventing me from going where it was I truly wanted.

Mason had somehow managed to tuck me behind him again and I hadn't noticed. My eyes darted around, trying to understand what was happening. Mason's entire stance was taught and tense, even the vein in his forehead was protruding more than I had ever seen. He was yelling, blocking me protectively from whatever he saw that was threatening.

My attention drifted, trying to see what it was Mason was trying to protect me from but my vision was almost immediately blocked by another body.

Mason's hand let me go and another set wrapped their way around me. I looked up and met those icy eyes of Matthias'. Without saying a word, he scooped me up and threw me over his shoulder and began to walk away.

"No!" I shrieked, trying to claw my way out of his grasp. My mind was frantic. Completely irrational as panic bubbled up into my throat.

After a few steps, Matthias set me back down. I tried to run as soon as my feet touched the ground, but he quickly grabbed me before I had the chance. Lifting me back up off the ground as if I was a petulant child throwing a temper tantrum. He had taken me even further away from where I wanted to go and I was not about to let that happen.

"Let go of me!" I growled, my thought process still scattered and not making any real sense. All I knew was what my body was telling me.

I fought with him, trying to get away. Every attempt I made was thwarted by a precisely timed movement of his hands. Even when I'd struggle free and fall to the ground, he'd managed to snatch me up before I even got back up to my feet again. I felt feral, out of control of my own impulses. All I knew is what I wanted and I'd be damned if anything stood in my way.
