Chapter #29 - Keeping What's Mine

*The Next Day*

I manage to avoid Shane from, Gino. We can’t let her close to Gino lalo na’t ngayong unti unti na siyang Akaka-alala. Yesterday was though because Shane keeps on asking me question after we got home.

After I drove them home pinapunta muna ni Shane si Serenity sa mga lola niya para makausap ako. Looks like she has lots of things in her mind dahil pansin niyang inilalayo ko siya kay Gino sa mall.

Naupo kami sa isang sofa and she began to ask me questions.

“Mark, who was that guy earlier? It looks like he knows me. Nung nasa America tayo sinabi mo na agad saakin ang mga pangalan ng mga naging kaibigan natin. Why haven’t you mention me Gino’s name? Are we not Friends? Pero bakit parang kilalang kilala niya ako? He hasn’t leave his eyes from me at kitang kita ko yon. So please tell me. Who is he?” nakatitig ito ng maaga sakin habang hawak ang kamay ko na para bang nagmamakaawa na magpaliwanag sa kanya.

Huminga ako ng malalim. “It’s not important, Shane. He’s not important. Even if you don’t remember him it’s okay” (Because I don’t want you to get involve with him again and hurt yourself). “He’s just a friend and nothing more” I sigh. “He’s just MY friend. It’s okay if you don’t remember him because he’s not that important.” (I’m sorry Shane for lying. But it’s for your own good).

She just sigh and smile at me. “Okay. I understand. I won’t ask anymore questions.” She said and gave me a peck on the cheek. “Thank you for the great day, Mark. I had a great day. Come and let me see you outside” sambit niya at sinamahan ako hanggang sa labas ng bahay nila.

“Goodbye, Shane. I’ll just see you again tomorrow.” I said before I got inside my car.

Tumango naman siya sa akin. “Drive safetly.” She just said.
