Chapter 4 (Jay)

I had to be about the dumbest nigga in the world to let Tori play me the way she did. Crazy thing is I know how Tori thinks. She would use whoever or whatever she can, to make something happen. It just so happened that she used me this time. I’ll be the first to admit that I wasn’t thinking clearly. I love Beyonce so much that I was willing to do anything to be with her. The problem is, I made things even worse. I assumed that when things went left with her and her new man she would come running back to me, but she did the exact opposite of what I wanted her to do. I called her all day, every day, but she never answered. After a few days of calling, she ended up blocking my calls altogether. To say I was sick was an understatement. I was so desperate that I even tried calling Kelly's ole hating ass. She made sure she answered each time I called just to tell me off. I know Beyonce better than anyone else, and I saw that she really did love this Micheal dude. Knowing that was just too much for me to handle. I wasn’t trying to let her be happy with nobody else if it wasn’t me. I saw her car parked by her mama house a few times, but I never went over there. Beyonce’s mama was crazy, and I was her least favorite person in the world. She wouldn’t hesitate to call the police on me. I even went as far as following her one day, but I lost sight of her when she pulled up at school and got out of the car. I knew that if I just talked to her I could make everything alright with us. She could resist me over the phone, but she couldn’t resist me in person, no matter how hard she tried. I pulled myself away from my troubled thoughts when I pulled up to Courtney's house. I’d been so busy stalking Bey that I hadn’t spent any time with my kids for over a week. I didn’t even call to check on them so hearing Courtney ’s mouth was unavoidable. I rang the doorbell and waited for somebody to let me in. I used to have a key to the house that I once shared with my wife, but when Beyonce found out she had a fit, prompting me to give it back. “Hey daddy,” Denim said as she jumped into my arms. “Daddy!” Dream said as she ran over to me, almost knocking me down. “ Hey, my baby girls, ” I said as I picked them up and made my way over to the sofa. I felt bad for staying away from them that long. I hadn’t been in the best mood, but that was no excuse. Whatever I was going through was not their fault. “Hey Jay,” Courtney said when she walked into the living room with Lil Sean and Drew. I had to do a double take when I saw her. She had on a long black dress with red strips. The red heels and jewelry she wore complimented her outfit very well. Courtney had perfect skin so, besides lip gloss, she didn’t wear much makeup. Her hair was braided, but it was pulled up in a bun, and she wore it very well. “Hey Courtney, how you been?” I asked her. “I’ve been fine and yourself?” She asked in return. I was almost at a loss for words. I’m used to her biting my head off when I’m here. I was shocked to be holding a normal conversation with her. “I can’t complain,” I replied. “That’s good, but you never told me how long they were staying with you, so they have two days’ worth of clothes. If they need more just let me know and I’ll pack them some. I have class the day after tomorrow so I’d appreciate if you could keep them until then,” She said. I was just sitting there staring at the stranger that was standing in front of me. It was only about two months ago that she was threatening to kill me and Beyonce because I didn’t get the kids like I promised. Now she was standing here acting like she was my best friend. “That’s not a problem. I’ll keep them for a few days and give you a break,” I replied. “Thanks,” she said with a smile on her face. I don’t know where this new Courtney came from, but I didn’t mind being around her as long as she was calm like this. She hadn’t been on my back about going back to counseling or about us getting back together. I was starting to wonder if there was another man in the picture. Even though Courtney and I were separated, I didn’t know how I felt about her being with somebody else. “You look nice. Are you going on a date or something?” I asked trying to feel her out. I laughed a little, but I was serious. “No, I’m going somewhere with my mama.” She replied while laughing. “Besides, I’m still married so I can’t go on a date even if I wanted to.” I guess she was throwing that cheap shot at me, but I didn’t respond to it. “ Well, we’re about to go. I’ll let them call you tomorrow.” I said right before walking out the front door. After securing all four of my kids in the car, we made our way over to my mama’s house. I was on my way to pick up my brother Ty since he was staying the night at my house as well. We hadn’t hung out in a while, and it was long overdue. My mama and sisters weren’t home, so I didn’t bother getting out of the car. When I blew my horn, Ty came out, locked the door and jogged over to my truck. “What’s up Little Rascals?” He said to my kids when he slid into the passenger’s seat. “Nigga stop playing with my kids before I make them jump your ass,” I laughed. Ty didn’t have any kids, but he was always good with his nieces and nephews. “What are we drinking tonight man? Let’s stop and load up before we go in,” Ty said as if he was reading my mind. “Yeah, I promised to get them some snacks, so I need to stop somewhere anyway” I replied. After spending over an hour in Wal- Mart, we were on our way back to my condo. Between my kids grabbing toys and snacks and me and Ty grabbing liquor, I spent over two hundred dollars, but I wasn’t complaining. “Aye, stop at the gas station up here so I can get me some cigars, ” Ty said as we approached a Shell Gas Station. I pulled up to the pump and decided to fill my tank up since we were here. Once Ty got what he needed, he came walking back to the car with a smirk on his face. “Man you are not gon ’ believe who I just ran into in there,” he said laughing. “Who?” I asked curiously. “That nigga Bentley was in there begging me for something to drink and shit, ” Ty replied. When he said that I began to look around the parking lot for his truck, but I didn’t see it. When I looked on the other side of the pumps, I saw Tori's car backed into a spot near the exit so she must have been in the store with him. I didn’t even know he was home, but I was happy that I found out. “Is Janaé in there with him?” I asked my brother. “No...He was in there with some other dude,” he replied. “Damn man, I’m sorry I got my kids with me. I want to put my foot up his ass so bad.” I said heated. “Nah, you can’t do that with your babies around. You gon’ get your chance to get at him,” Ty replied. We both hopped in the truck, and I was about to pull off when Bentley came strolling out of the store, followed by another man who looked familiar. I looked long and hard at the man that he was walking with until I figured out who he was. “Get the fuck out of here!” I yelled as he walked away with Lee walking right behind him. Lee was known as the Diva of Orleans Prison. He dressed like a man but did everything else like a female. According to Quan, Bentley had been moved off of several dorms because he always got into fights with somebody over Lee. “What?” Ty asked looking at me. “That’s the dude he was fucking with when we were locked up,” I replied. “That nigga gay?” Ty asked, shocked by the information he’d just received. “What does it look like to you?” I replied, gesturing at the two men with my hand. “Man I can’t believe this shit.” He said laughing. “Tori likes girls, and her man is into boys. They really are made for each other.” Bentley and Lee hopped in Tori's car and sped out of the gas station’s parking lot. He had Lee riding in the front seat of his girl’s car like it was no big deal. It was sad to say, but I didn’t feel sorry for Tori at all. It was crazy how she stayed up in other people’s business, but couldn’t see what was going on right before her eyes.
