"What are you thinking about?"

"What are you thinking about?"

The question breaks me out of my thoughts and brings me back to reality. I glance over my shoulder to find Dylan already looking at me, a faint smile on his lips. I can't help blushing at the way he looks at me, glancing away shyly.

"I was just thinking about how pretty this is," I say, gesturing toward the sparkling blue lake in front of us, peering out at the deep green grass that surrounds the area around where Dylan and I sit atop a plaid blanket, drinking in the sunlight. Our date ended up at the park, and the two of us have been content to lay together and watch the clouds as they pass overhead.

I return my attention to Dylan, shifting to face him better. I study him for a moment, taking in his light brown hair and sharp facial features, gazing into his caramel-colored eyes.

"What are you thinking about?" I tease with a knowing smile, shoving his arm playfully.

Dylan flashes me an easygoing grin and leans back on his elbows. "I was thinking that it would be nice if you met my parents," he admits. "They want to meet the girl I've been spending so much time with."

I raise my eyebrows, slightly surprised by his response—though pleasantly so. I tilt my head to the side as I ask, "You've told your parents about me?"

"Of course," Dylan says. "I had dinner with them the other night. I mentioned that I was seeing someone."

"Did you tell them that it wasn't serious?" I ask. I don't mean for Dylan to take my question the wrong way, though the truth is that Dylan and I aren't very serious—not that there's anything wrong with that. We've been on a few dates, and I enjoy spending time with him. However, I also enjoy taking things slow, and I don't want to rush into anything.

"Yeah," Dylan admits, "but I also told them I was hoping things would become serious."

My cheeks flush, and for a moment I feel tongue-tied. I clear my throat and try for a smile as I murmur, "You mean that?"

"Absolutely," Dylan says. "There's just something about you, Blake. When I'm with you, I forget about everything else. You're witty, intelligent, genuine, and insanely beautiful. Who wouldn't fall for someone like you?"

My heart flutters in my chest. My cheeks blush crimson. It isn't every day that such words are said to me.

"So you think you're falling for me, huh?" I tease.

Dylan's gaze meets mine, a dimple appearing in his cheek as he gives me a heartwarming smile. "I might be reaching that stage," he admits in a casual-yet-flirty tone.

"Might be?" I quip, raising an eyebrow.

"Okay." Dylan leans in closer to me, tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear. "I'm definitely at that stage."

When he kisses me, I get so lost in him that I don't even realize what's happening. When I do, it almost doesn't feel real. I kiss him back after a moment, leaning into him without thinking. He pulls back after a moment, catching his breath, his face merely an inch from my own. I breathe heavily as our gazes meet, staring at each other as if nothing else exists.

And then he's kissing me again. I don't pull away as he leans in again, instead drawing toward him as well. I angle my head so that my lips will meet his, and then I kiss him like his lips are the only lips I've ever known. Dylan cups my cheeks and pulls me closer to him like he can't get enough of me. It feels like my first kiss all over again.

When we pull back a second time I find myself blushing and leaning away from Dylan slightly. I can't remember the last time I was kissed like that in public.

"I take it back," Dylan says after a brief moment of silence, grinning as he gazes at me. "I've most definitely fallen for you, Blake Rhodes."
