                        Trisha's POV

It's been few days since the little adventure I had translation since I have tutored Shawn for the chemistry test and he even managed to score a B+. Well he is good student no doubt but I am never saying that to him.

I was more anxious than him about the test but after he showed me the grade it was like someone lifted some big weight from my shoulder.

That whole tutoring thing was kinda fun. Shawn is a great person. He is funny too with my level of understanding. He tried to have more conversations with me after that but I am not sure Amanda would like that. It's not like I need her permission or something but we are in a good place, so can't risk to lose that.

It was very surprising when she didn't say anything after she came to know about the whole me teaching Shawn. Maybe she is changing her attitude towards me being friends with her friends.

Moving all from this, I am very excited today as I am going to my mamu's (maternal uncle) house, the one who lives nearby , my maa's cousin, uncle Ajit.

His daughter aka my elder sister ( di - elder sister in India) is getting engaged tomorrow to her long time boyfriend Sameer who is also the son of uncle's friend.

Engagement is tomorrow but dad said that I should go today as they are my family. I have always attended every function or celebration there whether its anyone's birthday, anniversary or any puja.

So, dad is taking me there right now. When we reached there dad asked me to go ahead with my bags while he get all the gifts and sweets that mom send for tomorrow.

Mom and dad always try their best to take part in Indian ceremonies so that I can learn about them. They encourage me to learn my culture and traditions and be connected to my roots. They always let me be at my uncle's house so that I can be around people who speak hindi. It helped me a lot. I speak fluent hindi which affects when English accent (chuckles). Uncle and aunty taught me everything about india and it's culture. Well I have been there for 10 years of my life. I knew pretty much everything but they help me to stay connected to it.

I went ahead and rang the bell. Ajit mamu opened the gate and I greeted him by touching his feet. It's a gesture in India. Younger people touches elders feet to seek blessings.
"Trisha beta, jeeti raho, " Said uncle and hugged me.
(Translation : Trisha dear, god bless you. May you live long).

"Where is George?, " he asked.

"Dad is getting some stuff from the car, he will be here in any minute, " I told him.

Just at that very moment dad came and greeted uncle and we went inside. Can't have the whole conversation outside. It's chilly.

We sat on the sofa while uncle went to mami (maternal aunt) who was in the kitchen to inform her of our arrival.

Mami came and I took her blessings too and dad and she exchanged pleasantries. Dad then handed the sweets and gifts to mamu.

"George, how many time do we have to tell you? You don't need to bring all this stuff ever time you come here, " mamu said to dad.
Uncle and aunty has told mom and dad not to do all this formalities as they are a part of family too. But mom being mom, she never listens (chuckles).

"You know Lily, she couldn't let me go empty handed, specially this time, " Dad explained.

"Well now I can't say anything about it. As they say happy wife, happy life, " mamu said jokingly and we all started laughing and mamu got a smack from mami.

After that aunty brought some snacks and cold drink for us which dad had to have when aunt and uncle insisted. We all started talking each other our daily life stuff. Uncle asked me about my new school and everything.
