Also, they (Mattia and Y/n) didn't manage to finish in the last chapter.

1 week later:

I had set my alarm the night before, today was the day of Payton's first doctors appointment, this was the one that would determine how long he had left.

Y/n: baby wake up
I said as I shook him awake, I gave him a kiss on the head before putting his clothes on the bed
Y/n: Payton come on
I giggled, I was trying to make everyday I had left with him good, and I'd tried my best not to cry in front of him.
Payton: five more minutes
He groaned
Y/n: Pay come on, we have to go
I said a little more sternly
Payton: nooooo
He whined
I giggled before pulling the cover off of him, he groaned a little before grabbing my waist and cuddling me
Payton: you're not going
He said as I tried to get out of his arms.
Y/n: we have to go
I giggled as I finally broke free
Y/n: five minutes and I want you ready
I told him before I made my way downstairs

Charli: you going out?
She asked me as she passed me a coffee
Y/n: uh yeah, me and Pay are going to target
I lied
Charli: oh cool could you guys get some snacks please
She asked
Y/n: that's why we're going
I laughed
Payton: alright I'm ready
He said as he made his way down the stairs.
Y/n: ah you looks so cute!
I said as I ran over to him and placed a long kiss on his lips
Josh: you two loved up as ever
He laughed
Y/n: we'll pick up breakfast on the way
I said as I looked at the time
Payton: right
He said as he rolled his eyes playfully before I dragged him out the door

We got into the car and I could see that Payton's leg was bobbing up and down unraveling his anxiety about the outcome of this appointment.
Y/n: whatever happens I'm here with you
I reassured him as I placed my hand on his thigh, calming him down a bit.
He smiled before lacing his fingers with mine.

We drove there and I could tell that he was super nervous which was understandable.
Nurse: Payton Moormeier?
She asked and we stood up
I pulled Payton's arm back
Y/n: whatever happens Payton
I repeated
He smiled a little and let out a breath before we walked into the doctors office.

Doctor: hi, Payton is it?
He asked
Payton just merely nodded and sat down, I sat next to him and intertwined our fingers once again
Doctor: the last time I saw you, you didn't have a lovely lady next to you
He commented, well more like questioned
Payton: she's the girl I told you about, my rock
He explained to him as he turned and gave me a soft smile
Doctor: you're very lucky to have someone by your side Mr Moormeier, not many people do
He told him
Y/n: he has to have someone to keep him in check
I joked
The doctor joined in.
Doctor: so as you know Payton, you have been diagnosed with stage three lung cancer, this could have been caused by various thing as you already know, we have your test results back and we've determined that you have around one to two months left, I'm so sorry Mr Moormeier, if there is anything we can do to help we will always be here, normally patients would decided to tell their family at this time but you take all the time you need and wait until you're ready.
I held Payton's hand and rubbed my thumb over it as we took in everything that the doctor was saying.

We both left, not speaking a word the whole way home, scared of saying the wrong thing.
Y/n: we can tell them when you're ready baby, I'll never leave your side, I don't care if you get annoyed, I'm never leaving
I said as we got out of the car, my hand latching onto Payton's
Y/n: I love you
I said as I placed a kiss on his lips
Payton: I love you too

We got into the house and tried to go straight upstairs, ignoring everyone else
Charli: where's the snacks?
She asked as she turned around from watching whatever was displayed on the TV in front of them.
Y/n: I- er- yeah... um, target was er- closed
I lied
Josh: nah it's not, you guys didn't go there did you?
He asked as he paused the movie
I looked up at Payton, not sure what to say.
He gave me a reassuring smile and grabbed my hand
Payton: actually there is something I need to tell you guys
He said as he walked across the room, taking me along with him.
Everyone stopped what they were doing and listened for what excuse Payton had up his sleeve, little did I know he was actually going to tell them the truth.

Payton: we didn't go to Target today
He started and everyone looked at him with a sarcastic shocked face
Payton: we were at the doctors
He added, I held onto his hand tighter as everyone's faces died down
Payton: I- I've been diagnosed with- with lung cancer
He breathed out
Payton: there is no cure
He added quietly, everyone looked at him shocked, not sure what to say
Payton: um- the doctor... he er- he thinks I only have a few er- months left
He said, he looked down to the floor, avoiding any eye contact
Y/n: baby it's okay
I said quietly as I cupped his face, bringing my lips to his
Josh: Payton... er bro- I didn't- I never-
Charli: Payton I'm so sorry
She said as she gave him a hug, everyone giving him one after.

We wanted to act like everything was normal, just a normal day with a normal couple, with their normal lives ahead of them.

But we knew that would never be possible
