How was it possible that one man could be so arrogant, conceited and downright objectionable? He would swan around a crime scene, ordering everyone around like he owned the place, insulting officers that were doing their best to solve the latest crime that faced Scotland Yard. To say you disliked Sherlock Holmes would be an understatement, every time you saw him you had to fight the urge to slap his smug face; and most of all you hated the way that he would treat your big brother. Greg was a wonderful detective, and you had followed him into the police force and now you were following in his footsteps at Scotland Yard.

From the first moment you met Sherlock you had taken an instant dislike to him, especially when he was so wrapped up his own self that he couldn't even be bothered to call Greg by his right name. The only redeeming feature about Sherlock was his friend Doctor John Watson; whereas Sherlock was rude, offensive, and egotistical, John was a sweet, kind, long suffering man who was always left apologising for Sherlock's obnoxious behaviour.

So here you were, with Greg looking down at the body of the once prominent MP, Donald Gates. Surveying the crime scene, you picked up on several interesting points; two glasses, indicating that Mr. Gates had had a visitor, but neither glass had lipstick on it meaning that the visitor was either a male or a woman not wearing makeup. There was a nearly empty bottle of Scotch next to the glasses, which reinforced your belief that the visitor was male, as men seem to prefer that particular alcohol over women. Looking into the wastepaper basket in the room, you noted two used condoms, not the nicest thing to find amongst unwanted correspondence but it was perfect evidence.

Then there was the body itself, the ferocity of the stab wounds to his chest and genitalia suggested someone that was very angry at him, this crime was very personal; but after the crime the killer felt remorse and placed a blanket over the face of the victim. There were no signs of a struggle in the room, which suggested to you that Mr. Gates had trusted his killer and had not expected what was to come.

You felt a familiar hand on your shoulder as you crouched over the naked body. "Hey kiddo, you got anything." Greg asked as he watched a subtle smile form on your lips, a smile that he knew meant you had already worked out who the killer was.

Before you could tell him anything, the whirlwind that was Sherlock Holmes came bursting on to the scene with an apologetic looking John being dragged behind him. With a huff you moved out of the way, ignoring his sarcastic remarks and went over to greet a tired looking Watson.

"Morning John," You called as you got to him.

"Oh hello (Y/n), its nice to see you again. I'm sorry about Sherlock. I have told him that you are perfectly capable of solving this without him, but he insisted on coming." John said as he pulled you in for a hug.

"John, I don't expect you to apologise for the walking ego every time I see you. He's just pissed that Greg doesn't need him as much now I'm here."

John laughed. "I think you're right (Y/n). Just out of interest do you know who the killer is?" He asked.

"Of course, John, this was a simple deduction, and the killer didn't really bother to cover their tracks."

John watched as you eyed Sherlock angrily. "You know (Y/n), underneath it all he's not bad once you get to know him."

"John, you're his best friend and I expect you to defend him. I normally try and see the good in everyone, despite my job, but Sherlock is an ass. He's rude to Greg, and treats me like a moron, his only redeemable feature is you John."

You watched on as Greg began to speak to Sherlock.

"Well Sherlock, what do you think?"

Before Sherlock could say anything, you interrupted.

"Excuse me Greg but I think I was here first." You said glaring at Sherlock.

Greg looked at the pair of you. "Ok sis, tell me what you think." Greg said with a chuckle as he saw the annoyed look on Sherlocks face.

"There's no think Greg, I know. The killer is Mr. Gates lover, I believe that his boyfriend found out about him having an affair. Gates invited him over, probably to break the news to him. After a few drinks to summon up the courage to tell him the news, the two ended up having sex instead. Before Gates could even put his clothes back on, his lover killed him, then in a fit of remorse he covered up Gate's face, so he didn't have to look at him. You'll find two used condoms in the wastepaper basket; his prints will be all over the glasses and I believe that you will find the killers blood on the victim as his hand slipped on the knife. The droplets of blood that go to the front door can only be the killers as Gates died right here."

Greg looked at Sherlock as you finished your deduction, a smirk growing as he could tell from Sherlock's face that your deductions were right.

"Thanks sis." Greg said, patting you on the back as you and Sherlock glared at one another.

"Well Sherlock, it looks I don't need to keep you around any longer, I'm sure you have other things to do." Greg said, as he went to speak to an amused John.

"HA! Holmes doesn't have anything else to do, you have a life to have something else to do." You scoffed, crossing your arms over your chest still glaring at the consulting detective.

"What's wrong Holmes, upset that a moron like me was able to do your job for you? Or is it that your worried John might start blogging about my cases instead of yours?"

Your mocking ceased as you saw a strange expression cross Sherlock's face, if you didn't know better, you'd say it looked like an emotion.

"Er John, Greg.......... I think I broke Sherlock." You said, looking over at the two men.

"Ms. Lestrade." Sherlock said suddenly, calling back your attention.

"I would deem it an honour if you would join me at Baker Street for tea, I believe that you and I have more in common than I first thought. I think that this could be the start of a very interesting relationship." Sherlock said, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips.

As you saw the shocked looks on Greg and John's faces you couldn't help but chuckle slightly.

"I tell you what Sherlock, if you can remember to call my brother by his real name, I'll join you."

"I think I could do that." Sherlock said, reaching out an arm for you to take.

"John, Greg, Ms. Lestrade and I shall see you later." Sherlock said as the two of you passed them.

As you got into the taxi, you couldn't help but think John may be right; underneath it all Sherlock might not be too bad.
