A Disappointing End

You jolted and sat up before gasping in pain. Your body felt like it was on fire, your joints stiff and muscles tense-a feeling of sluggishness and trepidation weighing on your chest.

You slowly helped yourself up while checking where you were, though you wished you hadn't once you saw a black substance mixed with blood coating the ground and walls..you were hating this place immensely.

Gagging to yourself, you gazed at the many doorways of darkness before you, each one making you feel as if this was your own hell to rip apart the fragments of your mind. Nonetheless you hobbled through the first door in your path.

You staggered as a unforgivable flaring pain spread throughout your ankle. You doubled over in pain and let a silent scream as through your overcast vision your fingers were painted red with the blood oozing from your leg-the warm substance feeling foreign with the chills running through your body.

Moments passed and you finally began moving on-breathing erratic and balance to naught once you came across a slim walkway, an endless abyss looming around you until a fast blur crossed your vision-causing you to stumble back and almost slip to your doom.

You quickly cleared your vision to spectate the dilemma, a solid hunk of what looked like stone circling just above the bridge in a strange pattern. A shallow breath escapes you as the sick realisation dawned on you;one wrong step and that thing would kill you.

You trudged forwards and narrowly avoided the obstacle-your heart pounding in your chest and sweat beading on your forehead as you desperately tried to reach the exit and the end of the path.
You gasped and leaned back as the pillar scraped at you faintly-you heaved at the panic churning in your stomach before continuing forwards. You hoped to god this was the last thing in this dimension.

Your eyes trailed to the stone as it retreated from you-and against your better judgement-you booked it to the other side.

Passing through a door had never been so relieving. Though all hopes vanished as the sound of gunfire and distance yells had swept through your figure-an insufferable headache beginning to form.
You continued forwards as your eyes gradually trailed upwards towards a large plane overshadowing the battlegrounds-though you quickly ducked under cover once you realised you were in the middle of a war.

You slowly sank to the ground and exhaled deeply as you allowed yourself to relax, all the while attempting to block out the sounds of chaos around you.
Alas the plane had finally passed by after what felt like several hours, you stumbled to your feet and hissed in pain-before continuing forwards.

The plane came by once more but you knew what to do by that point, you rushed to the end of the trench and walked through only to find yourself in a deep red and large room.
You became light headed and collapsed to the floor-dragging yourself over to the wall and gasping for air.

You gazed to the right and saw a figure coated in the shadows watching you intently-and in your blinded impulse-you reached for the hope that they'd help you.

A dark chuckle was the last you heard.

But then the light had come again.
