Mia's Pov

I got out of the shower and wrapped my towel around my body. I had already decided on my evening attire. I would go casual with my jeans and pair it up with a slightly fancy yet appropriate off shoulder blouse. To tie the entire outfit together my famous old school vans that got more and more dirty with every day that passed. I loved my old school vans because my dad had got it for me. Back in May we both got a pair of the trendy sneaker, of course back then it was making a comeback. It had become my day to day choice of shoe because not only was it absolutely comfortable but it made me feel like my father walked with me even though it wasn't actually his shoes that I was wearing. It also made me think of all the memories we made while wearing our matching sneakers. Each stain on my sneaker represented a sacred and precious memory I would never forget.

I got dressed and heard my phone buzz on the vanity. I wondered if it were Jamie. I was so nervous about the night ahead of me but I prayed that everything would go well and I practiced my apology to Penelope. Hopefully she wouldn't stab me in the abdomen.

I grabbed my phone to see that it was an unknown number that was calling me. That was odd, no one ever called me unless it was one of my friends and their numbers were all saved. I hated answering calls from unknown numbers. It vexed me. I tried to figure out who it could possibly be. My curiosity got the best of me and in that moment I made an arbitrary decision.

"Uh- Hello?",I spoke into the cellphone suddenly regretting my decision to take the call in the first place.

"Princessa?"

My heart stopped.

"Who, who is this?"

"Really? It's Leo Garcia",he laughed.

The sound of Leo's laugh echoed through the phone and traveled through my entire body. I was still in shock from hearing his voice.

"Leo?",I said his name in question because my words escaped me.

Why was he calling me?

"I'm in your area getting Maria serviced, so I thought why not call you up and ask if you would want to do something tonight?"

His words sounded foreign to me. I didn't understand what he was saying for some reason.

"Do something?",I repeated.

"Something fun if you're up for it", it was like I could feel him smiling.

"Um- actually I have plans tonight thanks for the offer though",I said placing my palm at the back of my neck.

"Sure, maybe another time",he said politely but I could hear the disappointment in his voice.

"Definitely"

"Later, princessa."

As I placed my phone down on my bed and picked up my hair brush I let out a deep breath.

Leo Garcia wanted to do something fun with me.
Leo Garcia wanted to do something fun with me and I turned him down.

Why did I turn him down?

I turned him down because it was the right thing to do.

Why did I have to do the right thing?

I mentally punched myself in the mouth as I slouched on my bed and slipped my socks on and then put on my sneakers, making sure to lace them up properly. I ran the hair brush through my hair a few times and applied a light layer of powder from my compact to my face. I was all ready to go and so I grabbed my bag and my cell phone and made my way downstairs.

"Hey honey",my mother greeted as she made her way out of the kitchen.

"Hello there gorgeous",I greeted her.

"You look lovely",she scanned me.

"You as well, are you trying to impress Mr Porter?", I teased.

"Are you trying to impress every teenage boy on the planet?",she laughed.

"No, just one", I mumbled.

"Enjoy the escape room baby and don't be home too late, nine the latest",she smiled and grabbed her handbag.

"Yes, uh-are you heading to the meeting now?"

"Why yes I am, a bit unsual that I have to attend this meeting anyway but you are in eleventh grade now so I guess I'll follow protocol.",she said as she applied lipstick to her luscious lips.

"About that mom, uh I didn't do very well last semester and I wanted to tell you before you faint during that meeting with Mr Porter."

"Not very well?", she asked concerned.

"I was still adjusting to being in the eleventh grade but I will do better this semester. I promise",I said trying to convince her.

"It's very unlike the Mia I know but I guess everyone goes through the adaptation phase hermosa. We will talk some more after the meeting okay?"

"Yes", I nodded.

"Have fun tonight because you might not be going out again anytime soon",she laughed although I knew she was being serious.

The knock at the door saved me from conversing some more with my semi upset mother. I made my way to the front door to see Jamie standing on the porch with a smile on his face. He looked as handsome as ever. His hair was neatly combed and he wore a white shirt and jeans.

"Ready milady?
