When Booker was 9 years old, his mother was killed by the Pirate Master and his father sunk with his ship.

After years of being cast overboard by various pirate crews, he had enough of it and captured a ship on his own.

Booker and his crew struck terror into pirates, privateers, thieves and fugitives, earning the nickname "Nightmare of the Sea".

He came upon Scuttle Town when his ship was running low on supplies, until he made a deal with the mayor to help provide protection for the port town.

Now he helps Shantae take on the Queen of the Seas, Risky Boots.

I put quotations there because it's a tiny bit sarcastic. Let's just say the waves have tension when they're around.
