Chapter 10

Ellie's POV

2 Years Earlier 

"Ellie!"

"Huh?"

"Are you with me?

"Um, yeah."

"Anyways, this silent treatment you are giving to Jungkook? What is going?" Namjoon questions me as we walk along a trail in the mountain. "I can tell when you are off."

"I just got some stuff on my mind," I say as I let out a sigh. 

"Okay then. You know you can always talk to me." Namjoon says as he gives me a reassuring smile. 

We continue walking up the trail when Namjoon notices something. "You see that cabin on that mountainside, we got some infected over there." He pulls out his rifle and scopes them. 

He looks over at me, "You wanna try?" I smile. 

"You sure?"

"Yeah, feeling good right now." I take Namjoon's rifle and begin shooting the infected from our long distance. 

"Wow, I like this," I say as I shoot and look through the scope. 

"Make sure you aim higher to compensate for the drop." 

I keep shooting till I get them all. 

"There is usually more this way if you want to keep shooting."

"Where are they coming from?" I ask. 

"Hordes like to move through this area during the winters, and with that, they leave behind a few stragglers."

"They do the same routes every year?"

"I guess it's similar to a migration."

"Why do you think?"

"Well... When the barometric pressure reaches a certain point...temperature...sh*t, I don't f*cking know. I didn't learn Infected migration."

I laugh at Namjoon's struggle. He usually never does. 

I continue shooting as Namjoon praises my skills. "You are a natural. I'm gonna have to tell Jungkook and Y/N about this. Now lets head back in, perhaps Jungkook is back."

"Okay," I say as I hand Namjoon his rifle back. "Thank you for that, I needed that."

"Ellie, you are going to need to talk to Jungkook and Y/N. I wasn't suppose to say anything but they are worried about you."

"I am fine."

"I am sure you are, but they wont know until you talk to them. And before you say you do, you will need to say more than 'hi' and 'bye'."

We reach the cabin and walk in. Jungkook sits on a chair as he plays the guitar. 

"We are back," Namjoon says as we enter. 

"That was you guys shooting out there?"

"Some stragglers out there. Ellie also got to try out my scope."

I pull out a chair to sit on, with some distance from Jungkook. 

"How did you like it?" He asks me. 

"Yeah, it feels good. I liked it."

Namjoon sits across from me as silence fills the air. 

Jungkook gets up with the guitar. "I see you havent gotten around in changing the strings."
