The smell of fresh flowers lingered through the air.
He loved them.
It's the little things in life that make him happy.
Every flower starts to bloom, no matter how long it takes.
Seungmin believes that everyone grows beautiful in their own way.
Autumn is nearing, yet he wants to spend most of his time on the flower field .
His favourite place.
No, it wasn't his field. It belonged to Jeongja, a good friend of his grandmother. A nice old lady but still younger than his granny. She owns a flower shop in the city, where Seungmin was used to often go to. But since she allowed him to visit this place every time he wants to, he started to spend time here. A lot.
He was laying in the field, watching the blue sky, covered with a few clouds. Today wasn't as cold as yesterday. Only the wind was blowing a bit, pushing his hair strands back.He loves the feeling of gras on his bare feet. It was so ticklish...it reminded him of the old times. He could lay here all day, especially in summer. Sometimes he'd come before sunrise and leave after sunset. It was his place. Okay, maybe because he doesn't have anyone else to share it with, except for his grandmother.
"If just Felix would be here..."
Back then, he often came here with his grandmother...but that was when he was in middleschool....maybe 7th or 8th grade. Of course, she was younger then. She wasn't sick. She didn't have to take so many pills...she didn't have so much blood pressure...she didn't have to visit the doctor every week to make sure that everything's fine.
She would come here with him almost every day. She knows how much he loves flowers. They played tag or had a beautiful picnic together. But the older she got, the less she visited this place. But Seungmin knows she has her reasons....
He remembered how much he was used to play here, alone. His grandmother would always scold him when he came back with dirty feet because he loved to run barefoot as a kid. And he still did. One time, he even tried to catch a small fish in the river and his feet were so wet and completely covered in earth. It was fun. But maybe if he wouldn't have been alone...
His phone rang. Someone was calling him.
"Yes, ma"
"Oh honey, where are you? Your friend is already here..."
Hyunjin. He had forgotten it. How could he? He was once again spacing out too much.
"U-uh..Yes! I'm on my way. I'll be there in a minute!" he said, grabbing his shoes in his hand and rushing back home. Luckily he lived close to the field.

Meanwhile
"This kid" sighed the old lady, a smile on her lips. "typically Seungmin"
"Just call me Auntie Cho"
"Okay" said Hyunjin. He was feeling somehow nervous.
"Do you want to drink something? Water or tea?" she kindly offered.
"Water would be great..."
"Ahhh, if I'd just knew that Seungmin would bring such a handsome and tall man, I would have dressed up prettier" she laughed while she filled the glass with water.
Hyunjin felt his cheeks heat up. No one really complimented him, especially not a grandma. And the fact that it's Seungmins grandma made it weirder.
"Here you go, dear"
"Dear?"
Hyunjin took the glass of water, thanking her. Yes, he still had respect of older people.
"I'm sorry you have to wait but...it's just Seungmin. Spending the whole day on the flower field probably. Unbelievable how he can't get tired of it..." she said.
"Flower field?"
"You can sit and wait in the living room as long as he isn't there" she suggested.
Hyunjin nodded and sat down on the couch. The apartment was pretty small and old in contrast to his. The wall of the living room was light blue with drawn roses, the couch was already creaking a bit but still comfy. There was a dark red carpet and a small tv in front of him. It looked...old. The kitchen was a bit bigger with an old traditional table...without chairs... where you have to sit on the ground. It was so new to him. Well, maybe not really new but different.
The the bell rang. Seungmin.
He came rushed in, panting heavy.
"Did he just run?"
Hyunjin stood up.
"Hey" smiled Seungmin.
"Hey"
"There you are! Oh honey, again bare feet? What did I told you about that?"
"Not to run with bare foot around..." he looked with a pout on the ground, looking like a puppy who had just done something he shouldn't have.
The lady sighed but this time she didn't scold him. She ruffled her grandsons hair.
"Ma!" complained the younger, most likely embarrassed.
"What? Can't I ruffle my grandsons hair?"
"B-but-"
She squeezed Seungmins cheeks which she truly loved.
"Now go and wash up, your friend has waited long enough" she smiled and let go of Seungmins cheeks who had winced out of pain.
He nodded and quickly went to the bathroom. The grandma went back to the kitchen and Hyunjin waited. It didn't take long and soon the younger was done.
"Sorry" he apologized .
"It's okay"
"Let's go to my room."
