something great

It was one of those days. One of the days where Louis had to go out with Eleanor and Harry would sit alone in their hotel room, scared that Louis would realize how much easier it would he for him to just actually date Eleanor, not Harry.

Louis and Harry had been on a break the past three weeks, and in this time, Harry had written three songs already.

The first one right before Louis told him he needed space, because of course he could sense that something about his boyfriend was off. So he'd written don't let me go, he'd even played it to Louis, and Louis had cried, but still broken up with him.

Shortly after the breakup, he'd written two ghosts, a song which he still hadn't played to anyone, not even Louis, because it was obvious what it was about, so he didn't even bother to show it to management.

And then, when Louis still went on dates with Eleanor after they broke up, he's written just a little bit of your heart, which was one of the most emotional songs he's ever written, and when he was in the recording booth to record his solo parts of their new album, he'd asked if he could record it to give his song to a singer.

He knew he couldn't publish it on his own, but he thought it'd be fine to sing his own version and then give it to Ariana Grande, because he thought she'd be the perfect choice.

So he'd recorded the song, with tears running down his cheeks, voice filled with pure emotion.

Louis was sitting on a sofa and played a game on his phone when he heard Harry sing an unfamiliar tune. Louis himself knew all the songs they would have on their album, even though it were only five that were ready to be recorded (story of my life, you&i, best song ever, midnight memories and little white lies), and he didn't know Harry had another song finished.

So he listened to the lyrics.
I don't ever ask you where you've been, and I don't feel the need to know who you're with
I can't even think straight, but I can tell, that you were just with her
And I'll still be a fool, I'm a fool for you

Louis froze. Harry's voice sounded so sad. Was it possible that the song was about them?

just a little bit of your heart is all I want

I don't ever tell you how I really feel
cause I can't find the words to say what I mean
and nothing's ever easy, that's what they say, I know I'm not your only, but I'll still be a fool, cause I'm a fool for you

It sounded like Harry was crying. And the song brought tears to Louis' eyes as well. Could it be possible that he was hurting his boy so much more by breaking up with him?

I know I'm not your only, but at least I'm one,
I heard a little love is better than none

Now Louis was full-on sobbing. Harry, his Harry, he'd hurt his Harry. The boy loved him, so much that he was okay with sharing him with a woman, just so he could have him.

As soon as Harry came out of the recording box, Louis wrapped his arms around the taller one's torso. "I'm sorry, I'm so so so sorry, I won't ever let you go again, I love you", he cried.

And Harry nodded and pressed a kiss to Louis' hair and let his own tears fall.

But now Louis was gone with Eleanor again and Harry was left alone with his feelings. It was overwhelming for the 18 year old.

No 18 year old boy should have to share the love of his life with someone else, or even hide a relationship. It affected him more than he liked to admit.

He called Liam, asking what he could do, but Liam only told him to wait for Louis and talk to his boyfriend.

That didn't help Harry. And because he didn't know what to do, he grabbed some paper and a pencil, made himself comfortable on the couch and started writing.
