It was a restless night.
You stood facing your slightly ajar window,
embracing the sounds of nature and the tiny droplets of rain that poured from the sky.
Crickets chirped down below in the extremely overgrown grass,
owls worshipped the beautiful,
crescent moon that resided way above and beyond the Devildom.
Horses from the field a few blocks away could be heard faintly,
neighing to their hearts content on such a fine night.

Despite it being such a beautiful night,
a rare and peaceful one,
you felt as lonely as ever.
Like no one truly cared for your existence.
No one had really spoken to you,
Lucifer had only scolded you for getting below 90% on a test,
Satan had spoken to you once to inform you that your presence actually wasn't needed at the meeting that afternoon,
Levi was hermitted away in his underwater realm,
Asmodeus had clung to Simeon and Solomon the whole day,
and Beel and Belphie were sent on a sudden trip to the human world on Lucifer's command.

You hadn't seen Mammon that day,
for whatever reason.
Simply,
you had settled on the thought that he had joined Beelzebub and Belphegor on their sudden trip,
and then headed to your room.
It worried you,
almost pained you,
not knowing where the boy with blindingly white locks and ocean eyes was.
He was with you 27/9:
and you wish you were joking.
The 2nd born was stuck to you like glue,
and you didn't mind.
His presence was oddly calming,
alluring.

In an attempt to ease your thoughts,
you listened to the rain.
To how it pitter-pattered oh so lightly against the fragile glass,
to how it smashed against the concrete far below,
to how it trickled down the leaves on the slowly blooming cherry blossom tree,
flowing so smoothly and eloquently down the small petals.
You then shifted your focus to its pace:
the rain was soft,
lighter than how it had been the night before.
Shuddering,
you turned from the window,
remembering how hard the bullets of rain that shot down from the sky had hurt and absolutely soaked you the day before.

"Yah! Human, whatcha doing?"

And at that sudden turn,
you went face first into his chest.
The demon you had been waiting for all day.
Realising he was in fact before you and that it wasn't some kind of hallucination,
you wrapped your arms around him eagerly,
burying your head further into his chest.

"H-hey! You should be in bed...
and you'll catch a cold if ya keep on standing by that window!"

"Hmm.. too bad. Was waiting for you."

Mammon flushed,
maybe at your words or how your grip on him tightened,
and slowly draped his arms over your smaller frame.

"Of course ya would be, I'm the GREAT Mammon afterall - bet ya missed me all day, r-right?"

"Yeah... I did, actually. It was lonely without you."

You learnt back out of his embrace and took him by the arm,
leading him lazily to the bed.
Even now,
months after being together,
he was still as awkward and shy as he was when you two first met.
The memories bought a fond smile to your face,
as you watched the love of your life crawl into the bed besides you,
wrapping ana rm around your waist and pulling you against him.

"Well... I'm here now. So ya can sleep now, human, and the great Mammon will keep you warm all night! So ya won't catch a cold or anything..."

You let a small chuckle leave your lips as you felt Mammon bury his head against yours.
He was simply adorable,
a sight for all to see,
a somewhat kind and clumsy soul despite being a ruler of hell.

"Thank you, honey. Appreciate it"

Honey.
The nickname you always gave him,
it sounded so velvety when it fell from yours lips,
so innocent yet sensual in the same sense.
One you knew would have him blushing,
and have him pulling you closer to hide his face.
Again,
you giggled at his shy antics,
bringing one hand up to cup his cheek.

"You're so annoying... but ya also my treasure, so don't forget that, yeah?
Am always here if ya feel lonely...
or anything.."

"Hmm.. yeah, I'm your treasure, Mam."

You hummed against his chest in content at the nickname,
wrapping one leg around his torso.

"Y-yeah... My treasure."

And with one small kiss to your forehead,
you and your loneliness you had felt throughout the day,
were out as quick as light.
