That night, after all classes were finished, the Maruders thought it to be a good idea to wonder the halls while everyone else was in bed.
"We better make sure to stay clear of Snivelous" James warned everyone, as they turned the corridor.
Peter scrunched his nose, "yeah, we don't want to end up like you, in detention!"
"Are you alright Peter?" Sirius asked, "you seem a little more, tense than usual."
Peter jumped slightly, "W-What do you mean?!"
"Calm down mate, we just want to know if you're feeling alright." Sirius replied, shaking his friend by the shoulder slightly.
Peter stared down at the floor, their was only one reason he was acting like that. He feared that Severus might have told James what he witnessed in the bathroom earlier that day. He was scared with what James might say when he found out he was in fact a homosexual, and that he had lied.
"C'mon Peter, don't start crying now." James teased.
"I'm not crying you Prat!" Peter cried, almost screaming
"Peter shush, we'll get caught"
"Who's there?" The Maruders gasped as they heard a voice, most likely the Ravenclaw Prefect, heading there direction.
"Run." Remus whispered.
"Damn I knew I should have brought my invisibility cloak." James muttered under his breath.
"But it wouldn't have covered all of us!" Peter whisper cried., as the turned another corridor, stumbling.
"Get back here!" They heard the voice call again, and they heard footsteps that emphazized the Prefect was running.
"Shut your traps and get into that room!" Sirius said, opening the door so that could pass through.
Once they were in the locked the door, and they heard the Prefect pass the room. They sighed before turning around, being met with a mirror. A fancy looking one that age got the better of.
"Get a load of this!" Peter shouted, admiring the Mirrors beauty.
"Wicked, but what's it doing in here?" Sirius asked.
"That's no ordinary Mirror, that's the Mirror of Erised." Remus replied, waking a bit closer, "it sho-"
"Shows the observation whatever they desire most in life..." James murmered running his hand along the side of the trimming.
"Yes. I don't know how you know that.." Remus said, staring directly at James.
"When I became the Seeker for Gryffindor, I was overwhelmed by the stress of having to carry the team, so one night I went for a walk and stumbled upon this mirror..." James sighed, "and when I looked into it, I saw that I was the best Seeker Gryffindor ever had."
"Does it still show you that?" Peter asked, walking a bit closer.
James shrugged, as he walked over to the front of the mirror and stared straight into it.
"What do you see mate?" Sirius asked.
James blushed at the sight before him. The mirror no longer showed James as the best Seeker, but instead, he was standing next to Severus, they were at some beautiful mountains, and James was wearing a black suit, while Severus had a light gray one on. He had a flower in his hair, and their were a few white decorations in the back, and what tied it all together, was the little white suit, a little boy Severus was holding was wearing. James could only guess that must have been Severus's cousin or something.
"I-I see me! With the holy head harpies!" James lied.
"That's what you want the most?" Peter asked, looking as if he was catching onto James.
"How about you give it a try Peter?" James suggested, pulling Peter to where he was standing, "now tell me, what is it you see?"
Peter glanced at James, then back at the mirror, looking into it. There was one thing he desired.
Peter smiled at the Mirror once it showed him, bending down on one knee in front of Regular, pulling out a ring, and saying four words, 'Will you marry me?'.
"Do Peter, whatcha see?" James smirked.
"I see myself. Proposing to Re- R-Rose!" James stared at him noticing how heessed up on Roses name.
"I wanna have a good!" Sirius shouted, pushing Peter out of the way.
Sirius looked into the Mirror smiling slightly at what he saw. The mirror shows Remus, holding someone in his arms, placing them a gangly kiss. While Sirius was on the other side of his, standing still, a small smile on his face as he watched Remus. The only thing Sirius ever wanted was for Remus to be happy with his loved one, even if that wasn't Sirius.
"Sirius, are you alright?" Remus asked, pulling Sirius into a hug, "you look like your about to cry.."
"I'm fine Moony, it's just that I saw my mother, finally respecting me for who I am..."
"I'm sorry Padfoot.."
Sirius pushed Remus away. Now it's your turn." He pushed him slightly, standing him in front of the Mirror, "now tell what you see."
Remus nodded to him looking into the mirror, and the scene before him was enough to make Remus's heart beat. There irn front of him was him and Sirius, holding hands while walking in a park somewhere in London.
"Aw Sirius..." Remus mumbled, smiling to himself.
"Did you say something Moony?" James asked.
"Huh?" Remus said, snapping out of his thoughts, "o-oh uhm, no.."
"Alright then, we better head off to bed... No doubt we'll get found." Sirius said.
"Yeah, and we won't be able to go to Hogsmeade Tomorrow!" Peter whined.
"That's tomorrow?!" James shouted, "then let's hurt up!"
