Lucas could feel the heat of the sun on his face through the window as he laid on the bed, staring at the ceiling. He stayed up all night, hoping his father would appear. He knew it was impossible, but he wished it would happen, he hoped it would happen.
He could hear the sound of feet downstairs, not one, not two, but a lot. He could hear voices like whispers, he tried to listen to one of them to distract himself from his self stuck sorrow
"I can't believe the Alpha is really dead. " The voice said. He scoffed. It seems there was no escape. The one thing he was trying not to think about was the same thing he so happened to hear. Tears fell down his face as It dawned on him, his father was never coming back. He was gone, forever.
The door flung open and Lucas sat up on the bed, he took a glance at the figure standing at the door, she was one of the few people he trusted with my life. Mama Sophia. She has been working for the family for more than fifty years, she's a werewolf too. She was like a second mother to him, but Lucas thought of her more like a grandmother. She walked closer to Lucas as he pulled the blanket off his legs. She pulled him into a hug as she sat in front of me.
Lucas let out a sob once more as she patted the back of his head.
"You have to be strong, mi dulce hijo." She said. Lucas had always loved it whenever she speaks her native language, he had even troubled his parents to get him a tutor, and they did.
"Now go get ready and meet us downstairs." She said planting a kiss on Lucas head, then she left the room.
Lucas got up from the bed slowly, then he dragged himself to the bathroom. He took a quick shower, then he dried himself in the bathroom and stepped outside. He didn't bother wrapping a towel around myself. He was in front of the ward robe trying to reach his suit when the door flung open. His hands shot up to cover the middle of his thighs. Shit!
"Why you covering that, it's not like I haven't seen it." A voice said, and it was no other person than Carter, who was in a black suit.
"Can't you knock?" Lucas asked, not in the mood for jokes.
"Sorry, just be quick, everyone is heading to the burial ground already." Carter replied, making himself comfortable on the cushion at the corner of the room.
"Okay, give me a minute." Lucas said.
He got dressed in a flash, putting on a black suit. He struggled to knot my tie, but he couldn't, it had always been his dad doing it for him. Frustrated, he threw the tie on the floor as he ruffled his hair and sat on the bed, with tears brimming in his eyes. Carter stood up from the cushion, taking the tie off the floor and walking towards him with a sympathetic look on his face.
"Let me help you." He said, waiting for Lucas to say something before he acted.
"Okay." Lucas replied, lowly. said.
Carter was done with it in about half a minute. He entwined their hands together, then he flashed Lucas smile and Lucas gave him a lopsided smile in return. Carter was trying to lighten his burden and he was grateful for it. Lucas tightened his fingers in his as they walked out of the room, down the stairs and out of the house, towards a black sedan waiting outside for them.
Beta Jones shot the little boys a smile and gestured for them to get in the car. They piled into the car silently. Lucas could see Jones eye him from the rear view mirror with a sad face. Jones immediately pulled up a smile on his face when their eyes met. Ellie rested her head on the side glass, she was sitting at the front passenger seat beside her husband, she didn't try to hide her sadness as she cried in silence.
