Darkness left me feeling empty
By its blank hollow vastness
The cold lonely feeling over me
Drowning me from its emptiness
In the darkness I got to live
Without anything to feel
And ought to believe
That true love might not be real
And in the darkness there you came
With a spark I first felt this feeling
That flicker of light and flame
Keeping me warm and living
You've first shown me your light
And guided me to jump and fall
That kept me through the night
With my back against the wall
My heart was left shattered
By a thousand cuts and torn
But as butterflies fluttered
I knew a true love was born
Light is easy to love they say
So you've shown me your darkness
And came to love you more day by day
Saving me from my emptiness
I came to love your light
Along with your darkness
Embracing me through the night
Loving all of me and my brokenness
Fixing the broken pieces
Have my broken bones mending
Taking me to places
Giving me my happy ending
You've shown me light and darkness
That gave me reasons to fall and believe
Once more in true love and completeness
As you vowed to stay and never leave
By my side, you stood by me
Thawing my frozen heart
By your side is where I want to be
And we'll never be apart
