STATEMENT GIVEN: Everyone was frightened
Everyone in the room was struck into silence as the woman grinned with promises of doom to come. All of their faces lost all traces of color as their eyes grew wider and wider. All of the students' bodies in the room tensed up as if they were statues of marble. She scanned the room looking for helpless pray.
"Betty? Or maybe I should go with Teresa?"
The two girls flinched backward upon hearing their names. They all looked around at each other frantically, wondering who was going to be the next target. Finally, one of them went to the front shaking as he did so.
"I'll go."
The woman smiled and said,
"Finally! I can't believe you all didn't want to do this. This was one of the easiest characters you have read for all year. Although, I do need another volunteer."
The wave of relief came crashing to a sudden halt causing the students to become lightheaded.
