"That was a shitty ass experience wasn't it Y/N" Kamina asked

It had been a week since our encounter in Adai Village and we were very close to the recall point. Frankly, I wasn't the biggest fan of the noobies, particularly Rossiu. He was kinda just a giant stick in the mud who was very by the book in his behavior and mannerisms.

"What was?" I ask

"That village, Adai" he responds, "It was a gloomy village filled with gloomy people living gloomy lives in the gloomy cold"

"Yeah. Whenever I think of that village I get pissed off" I say, "Makes me realize how good we had back it Giha though so I'll give it that"

"Yeah. They had some soup or broth that may or may not have been made from fish" Kamina notes, "When people drink shit like that, they grow into gloomy kids like Rossiu"

"Yeah. As boring as he is though, I understand" I say

"You know why he has such a big ass forehead at a young age" Kamina jokes

"Heh nah. I understand why he came out the way he did" I respond, "But if I'm being honest, if I'd never met you, and I was born in that village, I might've turned out like him"

"I mean you both got big ass foreheads so it makes sense" he jokes again

"Aye you don't got an appealing hairline either ya know" I joke back

"Laugh it up" Kamina says, "Y/N..."

"What's up bro" I say

"Why did you hate that high priest so much" he asked, "Like I didn't like him but you seemed to despise him"

I thought for a minute

"The things he said about how he sacrificed people based on who would care if they lived or died really fucked with me. I think that's because I saw a younger version of me within Gimmy and Darry and I remember the loneliness I felt when no one cared about me. That is until I met you. You gave me such a will to live and reminded me of what it meant to have someone care about me that it infuriated me to see those two be sacrificed for that reason alone"

"Damn Y/N I never knew you'd be so angry over something like that" Kamina says somewhat speechless

"Awwweee your just a big softie" Yoko teases as I realize that not just Kamina could hear my comms, but everyone could

"I'm not too open with how I feel so don't expect it to happen again" I say while blushing

"Tell me Y/N, ya know why people have eyes in front" Kamina asks in a serious tone, "It's cuz you have to move forward to see the landscape in front of you. If you had eyes in back, all you'd see is your hometown getting farther away. You can't move forward like that. If your eyes are in front, what you see in the distance gets closer. That's what let's people move forward. My dear departed dad used to say that to me. So don't worry about how shitty your life was back then, just keep looking forward. Ya got that?"

"Right bro. But that's not all of it ya know" I say

"What do you mean" Kamina asks

"Having eyes in front let's you see the backs of the people in front of you. And I believe that's why Rossiu came with us" I say

"Look at that. Seems your not just a big dumbass" Yoko says as I once again forget that my comm was still on

"Wow what a surprise" I say sarcastically, earning a laugh from everyone

"Bro. It looks like we're right by the recall point so keep a look out for it" Simon says

"Got it" I say
