Happiness

Very few things made jade west happy: scissors, coffee, death, blood, people crying, storms, blockbuster fails, just sadness in general. Well, very few things made jade west happy that other people would consider to be happy things but one thing that made her happy that everyone could understand why was her boyfriend beck Oliver

Everything about him made her happy: the way his hand fit perfectly in hers, the way his arms felt perfect wrapped around her waist, the way she knew exactly what the cologne he used smelled like so she always knew he was around or that she knew she had a safe place to go when she had arguments with her bastard father and got kicked out. Things that may seem small but they were all a big deal to her

But that all changed the day he didn't open the door

It was as if she wrote a list of everything that made her happy connected to him or not and then he took one look at that list and crumpled it in a ball then stepped on it

Now everything that made her happy was ruined and gone in the blink of an eye

The months that followed were the absolute worst months of her life. She spent every night crying herself to sleep over the loss of the boy she loved and thinking about how many things they would never do again or that would never happen. She had already planned her future and of course beck was included. She'd thought everything through from little things like shows she would audition for to bigger things like how many kids she wanted or her wedding day. In the three months that followed that horrible day she felt the least amount of happiness she's ever felt in her life and it felt like she would never be happy again

Meanwhile beck, a usually very happy calm easy going person had turned into an absolute mess of a human being

He started to regret not opening the damn door more and more everyday. He still wouldnt touch anything that was jades or anything that reminded him of her that got left in he RV because that would just make him hurt more inside than he already did

Luckily he was a good actor so he was able to make a mask and put up an act for school everyday to hide the regret but he could see straight through jades attempts to hide her pain. He knew exactly what jade looked like when she was vulnerable or hurt because she came over so often angry or upset with her father and their fights

Around month five after the break up jade slowly began to find happiness again, Little by little. She started hanging out with cat more and even tori a bit because she used to spend all her time with beck so she'd forgotten how close her and cat were all through elementary and middle school. Her happiness was a little over half of what it used to be before but then her walls came crashing down again

It was around month five that becks happiness had also come back a bit but for different reasons. Now tori gave him happiness. It was also around this time that he had decided he'd had enough moping about jade so to try to get over her he tried to kiss tori. Twice.

The second jade saw this all the happiness she'd managed to build up over the past few months crumbled like an old stone wall. seeing your ex kiss the person you've hated since day one? Yeah, Back to zero happiness

Over the next 5 months her happiness would climb a bit then fall, then climb and fall again it was like a wave that just kept rolling up and down and would never stop

On the other hand becks happiness was falling like a steep mountain. After his attempts with tori led him no where he was not only still full of regret from what happened to jade but now he had made things awkward with tori. It was getting harder and harder to keep putting up his act for school so he started to lose his cool and snapped at people more often than he'd have liked to

When jade found out about the full moon jam she was ecstatic. Not only was this a chance to perform and show off all her talent but she knew that beck would be there since everyone was always there. She still missed a whole lot more than she'd like to admit and deep down she knew she would never fully get over him and the three years she spent with him. The only problem was that she had no clue what song to sing because she'd sung her last good song at the Friday night concert a couple weeks prior so she turned to the only logical person she knew: Her old friend Andre. Andre had helped her write songs before and was great at getting lyrics and emotions out of jade. Together one night after she'd confided in Andre and how much she missed him and all the hurt he'd caused they managed to write a great song for jade to sing to beck entitled "you don't know me" because it was true, he had no clue how much pain he'd caused her over the last ten months. For the first time in a long time she went to bed with a feeling that wasn't sadness or despair

Beck was almost at zero but then a new opportunity came up. Meredith. The thought of having a girlfriend again made him slightly happier because it could help him forget about jade and tori and the hurt he'd caused but that was until he spent 5 hours with her and he realized that though she was nothing like jade she still reminded him of her like crazy

But his happiness really started to climb the second jade stepped onto the stage and grabbed the microphone. He couldn't help but think about how gorgeous she look with all the stage lights on her. He watched her sing her song perfectly, listening to every word that came out of her mouth. Eventually he started to piece together the message she was singing directly to him.

As he inched towards the stage his heart started beating faster and faster in his chest and before he knew it the song was over and he had jumped up on the stage and was making his way over to her

His heart was beating so fast now that any doctor would probably faint

"I've missed you" he admitted
"So what are you going to do about it" she challenged

He did the only thing that felt right in that moment

And in that moment both their levels of happiness and joy sky rocketed and stayed that way from the on

Well this chapter went in a completely different direction than what I'd planned. Originally I was just gonna list things that made them happy but this is way better. This chapter also has basically zero dialogue so it was different to write.
