I love you

"I love you"

It was such a simple phrase to most people, but jade was not most people. She hated those words because to her they were all lies. Everyone who had said "I love you" to her or told her how much they loved her had ended up lying in the end. There's two reasons she never said I love you: her father and Andrew

When she was little her father would always tell her how much he loved her and jade would say it back because she thought he truly meant it and she did love him. He would always tuck her into bed, kiss her forehead and say "I love you princess and I will always love you" but that all changed the day she told her father how much she dreamed of being an actress or even a director. She was nine at the time, but that night he tucked her in then started to walk out So she asked him for her usual kiss on the forehead but he just looked back at her and told her "I will never love you the same way again" and then shut off the light and slammed the door. Things with her father were never quite the same again after that night

The second person who had broke their trust with her was Andrew Thompson. Andrew was the best player on the rugby team and jades "boyfriend" in eighth grade. They said "I love you" to each other all the time cause they were still young and naive. They dated for eight months and jade was the happiest she'd been in a while until she walked into an empty class and found him making out with Chelsea north brook. She just stood there staring until she finally cleared her throat but all he did was look up from Chelsea, walk over to her and say "I used to love you but now I love Chelsea" and then he and Chelsea left a wide eyed jade alone in the doorway . Of course he likes her, she was blonde and skinny and the best cheerleader in the school. They had been spending more and more time together over the last 3 months but jade ignored every red flag that came up cause she was too blind with love. After that day she never said I love you again

Until she met beck a quarter of the way through her freshman year. Over the last 2 and a half months she'd watched beck have 6 girlfriends and with every new one that came she kept getting this feeling that she couldn't quite figure out what it was, but seeing beck date every girl for all of two weeks but act like they'd been together for years made her sick. The first three he'd kissed within the first week and the other three not long after and on top of that he'd also said "I love you" to most of them within two days. She didn't understand how all those girls could put that much trust into a boy like him.

It wasn't until the third month of watching him that it hit her: she was jealous of all those girls who dated him. She tried to convince herself otherwise there was no way she was jealous of those desperate girls plus she'd vowed to never like anyone ever again after what happened with Andrew. Eventually beck started to take notice of jade and after a lot of no's from jade they started dating

Beck tried to do the same thing with jade what he had done with all the other girls before her but jade was prepared so when he tried to kiss her she dodged it

"What's wrong?" He asked innocently while furrowing his brow

"I just.. wanna take it slow ok?"

"Ok as long as you're happy"

She'd love to believe that he just wants her happy but she just couldn't she knew that eventually she'd just end up on his long list of exes

After 3 and a half weeks she started to ease up a bit because the longest lasting one he'd had was three weeks. They still didn't kiss though and she certainly didn't return his "I love you's" cause he'd said it hundreds of times to girls that never worked out so she could never tell if he really meant it or was just throwing it around like he'd done before

Seven months into dating she finally kissed him cause she really started to trust him but yet she still wouldn't return an I love you whenever he said it which was becoming more and more frequent now. He'd say it when he saw her first thing in the morning at school, after they'd kissed, when they were cuddling in his RV or just out of the blue if she looked a bit down. She loved him she really did but she still just couldn't say it back and show him. He knew she loved him and had had past issues that she still wouldn't open up about so he let her take her time

On their one year anniversary though, everything changed

Beck had brought jade over to his RV cause he said he "has a surprise" so she gave in and they sat for a while until she finally broke the silence

"Why am I here" she started
"Cause I wanted to give you something"
"What"
"This"
He reached over to his nightstand drawer and pulled out a box and handed it to her. She looked at it and then raised an eyebrow at him but he just motioned for her to open it. Inside we're two necklaces, well kinda necklaces they were both identical. It was a piece of plain black string threaded through a gold ring. They were both so simple yet so beautiful

"What is it?" She asked cautiously

"It's a promise ring on a piece of thread in your favorite colour" he explained "its to promise each other that we'll always be together forever"

He wasn't sure if she'd even take it because the words "promise" and "forever" seemed to make her tense up.

"I love you" he reminded her softly

She just sat there staring at the necklaces in the box before she whispered back

"I love you too"

And they both knew how much she truly meant it

Ok I lied and I updated today. Here's another one with not a lot of dialogue the next one will probably have a bunch though
