I don't why, but I passionately hate gold.

Perhaps its high value made sense in ancient times, when gold coins and stuff was used as currency. Yet, now that we have paper, I don't see why it is still being invested in.

Gold as a metal has no practical uses. Even silver has more practical uses than gold. Gold itself is nothing but a shiny yellow ore of no practical worth. Yet, humans have been investing into it like crazy, a safe haven for uncertain times. And yet, during actual bad times, your gold may have no value at all. Can you eat or drink gold? Use it to build contraptions (like iron/steel)? Does it have any other purpose except 'nice shiny thing'?

Its a sign of human idiosyncrasy, this. So much money could be freed up to invest in governments (bonds) and businesses if investors just moved away from gold...
