'Oh... Detective Gumshoe!'

maya called out, waving at him, big the coat was so huge on the sleeves were hanging off her hands, gumshoe smiled at the two as he greeted them

'I always see you hanging around when I'm working a crime scene, pal.'

he said, gumshoe wont' lie, ..it was nice seeing maya again, but also phoenix, he looked pretty shaken up after getting whipped on the arm pretty bad, he didn't understand why though, phoenix always seemed really strong, why would a whip lash bother him

'You always seem to be working so hard, Detective.'

maya pointed out innocently, gumshoe frowned as he sighed, putting his hands in his pocket

''d rather not be working hard, but with crime you don't make your own hours. If I have to be at the circus anyways, I want to see the lion tamer and the tightrope. However, no matter where I go, the show is always the same... Dead body. Stage left.'

he ranted a bit, distasefully, maya gasped as she whispered to her brother

'Nick! Nick! He complained!!'

she said, phoenix grimaced as he patted her head

'heh, nice eyes on ya violet, Let's get back to business now, OK?'

she nodded, having the same look of determination

phoenix then began to ask gumshoe some questions, he was honestly worried about him after finding out gumshoe would be getting punished by that karma fucking bitch! and for something that wasn't even his fault

'Do you know who will be the prosecutor in court tomorrow?'

he asked him, gumshoe nodded

'Of course. It will be Ms. von Karma'

phoenix growled as maya looked suddenly panicked

'Uhhh... She isn't gonna hit us with her whip again, is she?'

she asked him, phoenix patted her head

'hey now, you really think i'll ever let someone hurt you?'

'..no, but she'll hurt you'

she said, worried for his well being, before phoenix could even say it was better for him to get hurt over her, gumshoe suddenly spoke up

'What do you have to worry about? You only have to see her in court! When she shows up at the precinct, the sound of that whip never ends, pal'

he said, phoenix could see how he flinched just at the mention of the name "whip", he didn't blame him, ..whips didn't go so well for himself either

'so how did the ringmaster die and at what time?'

he asked, taking out his notepad

'Yep. Last night around 10 PM. He died outside in the cold. A pretty sad way to go out if you ask me, pal, This is the scene of the crime, pal. The body was found right over there. Right about where you are standing now.'

maya screamed as she hid behind phoenix, backing up, gumshoe laughed

'Ho! Ho! Ho! Surprised you, didn't I?'

he teased, maya blushed red and pouted her cheeks

'm not laughing!!!'

she huffed, crossing her arms, phoenix chuckled softly at the scene, ..he knew gumshoe didn't do it out of for hurting maya, that and it was kinda funny
