Chapter 27

From Axel:

"San ka?"

I was walking out of the corridor when I received Axel's text.

To Axel:

"Pababa nang building."

From Axel:

"Let's eat!"

To Axel:

"Okay."

Today is our last day of school for this school year. I feel senti by just looking around the campus. This has been my home for 2 years. What a ride.

As soon as I saw Axel sitting at the stairs, I beamed a smile. He's one of the reasons why I enjoyed studying here. Kahit na ang hirap ng training. Sabayan pa ng pag-aaral. I'll always be grateful that he was my seatmate back in Grade 11, and that he became my closest friend.

This school had witnessed so much in such a short period of time. I am thankful that despite those struggles, hardships, and discouragements, I am still here, striving to be better and I can proudly say that I did it!

"Hey!" Axel said as soon as he saw me. I just gave him a smile.

We are now walking down Lover's Lane, because for some reason, Axel wanted to go here. The surroundings are relaxing. The air is breezy.

We're looking around, as if trying to memorize every detail of the place. UST's campus will definitely hold a special place in my heart.

"Akala ko kakain tayo? Why are we here? Are we lovers?" I said teasingly,

"Pwede din naman." He whispered, napatingin ako sa kanya. Ano daw? Did I hear it right? Naramdaman kong biglang bumilis ang tibok ng puso ko.

"Huh?" I asked for clarification.

"Wala. Gutom na ako, tara na." Sabi niya at hinawakan ang kamay ko at hinatak ako para mas mabilis na kaming makarating sa kakainan namin.

Today is our most awaited graduation day! Everyone's feeling happy and excited. I could feel it in the atmosphere.

I am excited to receive my diploma but I am also feeling nervous because another chapter of my life will open. The future is so uncertain. All I can do right now is focus on the present–which I have right now and prepare for the challenges of life ahead of me.
