The skies were roaring and the rain got heavy, striking with the earth's golden soil as Alistair entered Karma's adobe.

Petrichor hummed the surroundings with it's earthly scent, lulling the atmosphere in a dreamless sleep of satisfaction and content emotions.

The man took in the girl's trembling form, as he pulled the heavy bags of food effortlessly inside. She motioned him to follow her and he walked in the place as if he owned it.

"Why are you here?" Blue eyes were drooping low, embarrassed that Alistair had seen her in such state of vulnerability.

"Karma..." He breathed heavily as he saw her shiver from the way he called her out.

"Just today..... Only for a single day... Let me take care of you. I don't have any motives, neither I want you to tell me anything you don't want to... Just let me hold you. I have ruined your day with my outburst, let me make it up to you."

Karma's eyes widened from the sincerity behind those words but soon darkened with a resolve.

"No! Have you forgotten?" She dry chuckled.

"Have you forgotten that you are my ally, a person just for carrying out my schemes, we are not friends.. absolutely nothing, so I don't see the reason behind your kindness. We are strangers bound together...I don't even know you." She glared at him.

Lies, her world was build on the pillars of deceit, he was twenty five when she first saw him standing bruised on the platform of Arkalos after winning a game, two years have passed since the day and Karma had followed Alistair since that day.

The victory was a close one yet he owned it. What people saw was extreme strength in him but his displeased eyes and tight fists suggested it was not enough

It was such a close encounter that he may have lost and that may iriked him to no ends. Karma saw someone unpredictable, challenging.. someone way out the the conservative box made by the society, someone way out of her league.

And she struck to him like a shadow. Everything was planned, taking him into her wing, being the source of power for Arkalos and being Alistair's benefactor was all planned by her altogether way before she even entered the Ministry of Finance of the nation.

She needed someone faithful and loyal and Alistair was that someone. A loyal beast who would sell his soul to keep his word.

But the moment she entered his empire and saw him from close.... She felt him. Felt the same connection bursting fireworks as it did all those years ago.

Desired him...the same desire she had buried deep when she first saw him two years ago rejuvinated and she loathed it.

Love is meant for fools.

Never in her dream she would have thought that he the devil himself would say such daring words to a girl like her.

"Alistair, I think you should leave."

He hummed in distraction, not paying attention to her. Shrugging off his coat throwing it on the couch kept in the middle of the spacious hall enlightened by tens of artificial light source he smiled lazily.

Karma couldn't help biting her lip unconsciously when she saw Alistair folding his while shirt up his arms putting them at display for her shameless eyes.

"Where is your room?"

"W-what?" The audacity of this man.

"I have brought food and I would like to eat it still hot. Your dining table is basically filled with junks so I can't place it all on that." Karma had an aristocratic vibe and her home was filled with antiques which were originally new but were given the resemblance of belonging to a different era.
