(Arins P.O.V)
Later that night.6:58 p.m.
Arin groaned in refreshing pain. He was exhausted and it felt good. He was the type of person that found waking up the next morning sore; as an orgy. It had been a while since he had worked out this hard. Throughout the year, not even out of his own single workouts has he matched this.
He couldn’t wait for the rest of the season. After all, this was his favorite time of the year.
Arin groaned again, aligning his back on the ground, as he straightened his position on the itchy wet grass. He shifted his shorts, feeling uncomfortable.
“It’s been a long freakin time hasn’t it”, Arin turned his head to look over at Jason. Ignoring the grass tickling his nose he grinned,”Yeah, feels good, huh?!” His friend smiled back still jumping on his toes as he cooled down, after today. Arin rolled on the grass, flipping to stand up. Sucking in fresh wet cool air he stretched. Turning away, he slapped his friend in the back before looking around to the rest of his teammates.
Just an hour in, Coach suddenly appeared taking Arins’ list from his hands and immediately circling Arins new teammates. Just as fast today became the first lacrosse practice for the season and he could already tell they had the championships in the bag.
Looking around the field the bright healthy grass was crowded with exhausted yet smiling sweaty dudes. The field's bright lights illuminating the light as the sun came down. Every practice ran this late. Sometimes even later. As anybody in any Varsity sport and they’d tell you the same. If not, then ask them how many championships they have won. Then they probably should start then.
Earlier as Arin was sorting out the boys at tryouts on his clipboard, he recognized most of them. After Coach, picked the rest. Arin noticed there wasn’t a single name on there he didn’t recognize. He had grown up with them. He already knew which position they played, What were their strengths and weaknesses in skill, what jersey number they've been wearing since birth, and who’s mom always stopped by to every game or practice with a fresh batch of food for the whole team.
He swore that besides soccer and baseball moms, lacrosse moms were crazy supportive women. Trust him, he’s been scared too many times to count by how many mothers showed too much sports pride; especially on their skin.
He knew their skills as much as he knew all their childhood secrets. It would've been cool if the new guy joined but he was a no show. He also knew all his teammates could say the same; about knowing almost everything about one another yet for some reason he was chosen as Captain.
Arin sighed happily, ringing a towel around his neck. He headed to the showers. The grass today smelled fresh and misty. It made the whole day better.
He picked up his water bottle from the grass, swiping the wet dirt stuck on the bottom of it, “C’mon man, let’s get a drink and head out”, he said, swinging an arm around Jasons’ neck.
Jason gagged pulling away from Arin playfully, he cursed, “Fuck off man! You reak!”
Arin laughed chasing after his friend that ran off, with his pits exposed.
“Yo! Arin!”
Arin turned around noticing his teammate Colsen calling him over. Arin jogged to him with Jason following behind.
Coleson was also one of his closest friends. He was a more than decent dude with blonde hair and brown eyes. Apparently, he was of italian descent. Actually, his dad was the neighborhood cop. His two other moms were also lawyers. With that, the team made sure to be extra careful when inviting Coleson to parties. He’d never snitch. The fact just was, his parents were bloodhounds when it came to spotting anything underage and illegal.
