37- Toddler Troubles

Shannon's POV

I was cuddled up to Shawn on our bed, about to go to bed when I heard the familiar cries of my son, Stephen. I groaned and sat up while rubbing my eyes.

"I'll get him," Shawn said, getting out of bed.

"Thank you," I smiled.

He went to Stephen's room and I heard some shuffling around before he called me.

"Babe, please come here," He said, sounding panicked.

I rushed to the room and saw a sight that made my heart break, my son was throwing up and crying all over the bed. I picked him up and rushed him to the bathroom in order to clean him up while Shawn cleaned up his bed.

"Baby, what's wrong," I whispered, peppering kisses all over his face as he calmed down. "You're okay now, you're okay."

I brought him back to his room where Shawn had the medicine ready, "Hey bubs say ahh,"

He shook his head indicating that he did not want the medicine and I sighed, "You need to take it so you won't throw up anymore," He continued to shake his head.

"If you take it i'll get you a muffin and a new toy," Shawn bargained and Stephen's eyes lit up and a smile took over his face as he nodded.

Shawn gives him the medicine and places a kiss on the top of his head, "I'll give you the muffin and tory tomorrow, okay buddy?"

He nods and I put him back in his bed, "Good night, bubs. I love you."

"Daddy, can you sing?" He asks. Shawn smiles and sits down on the chair next to the bed and begins to hum Stephen's favorite song and he falls asleep sucking his thumb. I smile at the image and we quietly walk out of the room for some well deserved rest.

A few hours later, the familiar cries start up again and I groan. I went to Stephen's room to see him kicking and screaming and I quickly woke him up.

"What's wrong, baby?" I asked.

"N- nightmare," He stutters as the tears fall down his face.

I pick him up and give him kisses all over his face, "Can you tell me what happened?" I ask as I carry him to my room.

"There was a scary monster," He wails. "And it was chasing me."

"Aw baby, the monster can't get you okay? It was just a dream," I tell him, laying him down on the bed between Shawn and I. He nods and gives me a hug.

"I love you mommy," He grins.

"I love you too, baby," I reply and we doze off.
