The teen had been held captive for seven consecutive days. She was in poor shape—dehydrated, famished, beaten, and left in a room with no ventilation. It appears the young girl had been abused mentally, physically, and sexually through this time. She was admitted to Fernleigh Grove hospital to treat these injuries. When the identity of the girl was confirmed, officers located the home address of her mother. It was then officers discovered that the teen's mother had overdosed and passed away inside their apartment during the week of her daughter's kidnapping. Officers claim there to be a connection with the girl's mother and the local drug gang who were found guilty of the kidnapping and assault. It is speculated the guilt of what happened to her daughter led the woman to this point.
