Awake

I slept that night with a heavy heart. Zack was there listening to my rants and later on comforted me. He even insisted na pumunta rito but I just won’t allow it. Kahit sabihin niyang hindi problema ang pera pero for me, we should think practically. There’s something more important than traveling back and forth.

I’m at school and it feels like nakalutang lamang ako. I don’t understand any of the professor’s teachings. In every vacant time, tumatawag ako kay Mommy. Humihingi ng impormasyon.

My friends keep on telling me that everything will be alright pero para sa akin, hindi iyon magiging okay kung hindi pa magigising si Ate. As of now, hindi pa talaga siya nagigising. Maybe it’s because of the impact the headache caused her.

“Zen?”

I found out all of my friends are in front of me.

“Naniniwala akong ma o-okay ang lahat Zen,” ani Liam. I looked at him with hope. Sana nga Liam ano? Sana nga.

I just nodded as I perceive the situation. I concluded that, doesn’t mean someone’s suffering I’ll just let myself get affected by it.

Without hesitation, I sighed and got my notes out of my bag. I reviewed what I haven’t understand earlier and I found out everything’s easy pero kanina parang mahirap. Baka epekto iyon ng maraming iniisip.

The day passed and I’m on my way to the hospital. I have a driver with me. I am a bit distracted and I might get into accident.

My phone once again rang for a call. Zack is asking for a video call. I answered it.

“Love? Papunta ka sa hospital? Are you okay?” Sunod-sunod na tanong niya. I smiled because of it. He’s worried.

“Ikaw ba nag drive?” He prompted again.

“Hmm, I am fine, love. And yes, I’m off to the hospital. Hindi ako ang nagmaneho, I have a driver with me,” I responded accordingly. I heard him sigh deeply.

Bakit Zack? Is there something bothering you? I asked at the back of my mind pero hindi ko na lang sinabi.

“I’m just worried. Baka mapa’no ka kung ikaw nagmaneho. I know you have something above your shoulders now,” he stated.

“Yes, I know that love. Kaya nga may driver ako, ’di ba?” I let out a small laugh after that.

I don’t know but I felt relieved by his presence.
After minutes of talking, I found out that we’re already in front of the hospital’s parking lot.

“Love, I guess I should go. I mean, nasa hospital na ako. Maybe we’ll just talk later,” I said, nanghihinayang. I wanted to talk to him more, but not now.

“Why does your voice seems disappointed? Don’t worry we’ll talk later, I understand you, love.” He affirms.

“Thanks, love. I love you, Zack,” I uttered. Ironic! May gana pa ako kiligin kahit sa sitwasyon.

“What a music to my ears, I love you more than most, my Z.” He responded.

I ended the call with a smile plastered on my face. When I went straight to the ICU, nakita kong walang tao sa labas.
