this was a part 2 to the last chapter, "it's you. it's always been you." i hope you enjoy as this is the first time i've ever written a part two to any of these. much love <3

butterflies filled your stomach as you anxiously awaited a knock from a certain tall brunette at your door. the two of you decided to get super fancy for your date, instead going in casual clothes to a restaurant you were very fond of. you didn't want to raise suspicion among the others in the house, so schlatt suggested to try and "sneak out" while nobody was in the living room.

you had told charlie all about what happened the night before and your plans for tonight, hoping he'd be able to keep a cover for you. he agreed, happy that you were finally going out together.

you played with the sleeves of the light jacket you were wearing when a knock at your door made your heart stop. you sighed quickly before getting up and opening the door and were met with a smiling schlatt holding a single rose in his hand. he was wearing one of his signature sweatshirts and a pair of dockers, along with his infamous yankees hat.

"i cut this from the garden out back earlier. don't tell the owner though," he laughed as he handed you the rose.

you giggled and held the rose close to you for a moment. "it's beautiful. and don't worry, i won't," you smiled as you turned around to find something you could put the rose in.  you settled on a plastic water bottle with a good amount of water in it.

"the bpa-free banner adds charm," schlatt pointed out with a small chuckle, making you laugh as well.

"it truly does." you admired the flower for a moment before turning back to schlatt. "you ready to go?"

the brunette nodded. "if you are."

"let's go," you smiled and grabbed your phone and wallet from the dresser near the door before walking out into the hallway with schlatt.

"you look beautiful tonight, y/n," schlatt softly spoke as the two of you walked down the stairs together. a deep blush made its way across your cheeks as you smiled.

"thank you, j. might i say you look very handsome as well."

schlatt beamed at you before looking into the living room to make sure the coast was clear. when he saw no one was there, he quietly motioned for you to walk to the front door with him. you obliged, the two of you speed-walking to the rental car parked outside.

schlatt twirled the key around his finger as you got in on the passenger's side and he got in on the driver's. he quickly started the car and backed out of the driveway.

you couldn't help but admire the way the setting sun reflected off of the boy's dark hair and eyes, showing off the small hints of red and gold in each. the small freckles dispersed randomly around his face made you smile.

"like what you see?" schlatt playfully asked when he noticed your staring. your cheeks heated up once again when he caught you off guard, but you quickly calmed yourself.

"i have for quite awhile," you smirked. schlatt's eyes widened, you obviously catching him off guard.

"that was slick, y/n," he admitted with a small chuckle.

"that was my token slick joke for the night. expect only stupid jokes from now on," you laughed.

"and that is exactly why i caught feelings for you in the first place," the brunette responded, his cheeks becoming pink as well.

"that's normally why people find me annoying, but i'm oh so very glad you're the exception," you spoke as a small boost of confidence found its way inside of you. trying to take advantage of the moment, your hand slowly waltzed its way to the gear shift, where schlatt's hand rested comfortably. he slightly jumped when your hand hit his, but he quickly calmed down into his normal state.
