birthday

this wasn't a request, i just randomly thought of this idea. it's a bit long, so please let me know if i should shorten it and repost! much love <3

    a heavy sigh escaped your lips as you ended the call you had just been on with your mom.

    today was your birthday and your parents had planned to come back home from a small family reunion out of state a couple of days early to spend your birthday with you, but those plans were foiled when your mother called you to tell you that their car had broken down and they wouldn't be able to get back until two days later.

    this left you all alone on your birthday. your friends were all either busy working or away on vacation, so it wasn't like you really had anybody to spend time with at the moment.

    it was early in the morning when your mom called, so you decided to go back to sleep for a little while.

    it's not like i have any plans today.

    your heart mildly ached as you laid back down on your soft pillow, the blankets atop you giving off a comfort you really needed in that moment. just as you were almost fully back asleep, your phone rang.

    a groan escaped your lips as you haphazardly picked up the phone and answered the call without seeing who it was from. once you accepted it, you were met with the grinning face of your boyfriend. he seemed to be up and at it already, which was very out of character for him, especially at that time of morning.

    "HAPPY BIRTHDAY Y/N!" schlatt exclaimed with a smile. your frown curved upward slightly. the brunette had no problem at making you smile, no matter the situation, but it seemed that it didn't fully work this time.

    schlatt squinted and brought his phone a bit closer to his face. "what's wrong hon? you look upset," he asked, a tinge of concern evident in his voice.

    you let a light exhalation out of your nose before responding. "mom and dad's car broke down and all of my friends are busy, so i have to spend my birthday alone," you responded with a sarcastic but sad smile.

    the brunette's eyebrows furrowed. "i'm so sorry hon. i wish i could be with you right now," he sympathetically replied.

    "it's okay, i'll just have a chill day at home and order some food in or something," you spoke before letting out a large yawn as your eyes fluttered.

    it took schlatt to a moment to realize what was happening, but eventually, he did. "were you asleep?" he asked, worried he had bothered you on your already pretty bad day.

    "i was almost there, but it's fine," you sleepily responded, desperately wanting to curl up and sleep in your comfortable bed again.

    "it's alright, y/n, i shouldn't have called so early expecting you to be awake," he chuckled. "you get some sleep, okay?"

    "okay," you groggily responded.

    "your present should get to your house today. i love you so much," the brunette smiled once more.

    "i love you too," you gave a dopey smile that showed you were half asleep at that point.

    "happy birthday hon, text me when you get up," schlatt sweetly spoke before you nodded with a small "thank you!"

    schlatt chuckled once more. "bye, y/n. love you lots," he spoke before hanging up.

    you sighed as you put your phone back where it was before and slowly drifted off to sleep once more.
