And when someone is thinking something for him/herself, you'll see these in italics '...'

And when everything is underlined, it's a flashback (<like that)

Water... Earth... Fire... Air...

My mother used to tell me stories about the old days, a time of peace when the Avatar kept balance between the Water Tribes, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation, and Air Nomads. But that all changed when the Fire Nation attacked.

Only the Avatar mastered all four elements. Only he could stop the firebenders. But when the world needed him most, he vanished.

A hundred years have passed and the Fire Nation is nearing victory in the war. Exactly 10 years ago, my parents gave their life trying to protect me, leaving me and my brother all on our own when I was 6

My brother thinks that the Avatar was never reborn into the Air Nomads and that the cycle is broken, but something tells me it isn't true. I still believe that somehow the Avatar will return to save the world. And when he does, I wanna be alive to experience it

I was fishing with my friends Katara and Sokka. The siblings and I had know each for 4 years already, so you could say we were like family

"It's not getting away from me this time. Watch and learn, girls. This is how you catch a fish", Sokka said as he prepared himself to catch the fish

Katara leaned over the edge of the canoe to see a fish. Then, she removed her glove and took a deep breath

She began to motion with her hand, trying to waterbend. Suddenly, a globe of water containing the fish burst out of the water

"You're getting better at it everyday, Katara", I smiled at her

"Thanks (Y/n)! But it's still nothing compared to your bending", she admitted

Katara and I we're the only waterbenders here in the southern Tribe. The only difference was Katara was born here and had to learn how to bend all by herself, while I was born in the Fire Nation and learned to bend thanks to my mother

And yes, I'm a Fire Nation kid, even though I hate when people call me that

To explain better, my father was a firebender while my mother was a waterbender. They fell in love and all that lovey dovey stuff and had two kids, my brother Kion and I

Kion had the ability to firebend only, while I received both. My father trained us both how to firebend and my mother explained all about waterbending to me

So yeah, you could say I'm special

But I call it a curse. You're either a firebender or a waterbender, not both.

But here I am.

I'm both, even though for the people of the Southern Water tribe, I'm only a waterbender. If they knew I'm from the fire nation, even though I'm technically a refugee, they would kill me
