3rd person POV

The gang was again riding on Appa

It was a beautiful day with lazy, puffy white clouds and sunshine

"Those clouds look so soft, don't they?", Katara said, "like you could just jump down and you'd land in a big, soft cottony heap"

"Maybe you should give it a try", Sokka said

"You're hilarious", Katara rolled her eyes

Aang smiled, "I'll try it! Yeahhhh!"

He jumps right off Appa's side, laughing and hurtling down through the clouds with his staff. Sokka, Katara and (Y/n) look over the side of Appa as he plunges through a cloud. A moment later Aang lands next to them with his glider. He is soaking wet

"Turns out clouds are made of water!"

"Who would've thought", (Y/n) said sarcastic

Aang airbends himself dry. Suddenly, Katara turns and looks ahead

"Hey, what is that?"

They all looked down, seeing a valley. The floor of the valley around the river was black instead of vegetation green

"It's like a scar", (Y/n) said

Appa flew down, so that they could inspect the place

"Listen, it's so quiet", Sokka said

"There's no life anywhere", (Y/n) looked around

"Aang, are you ok?"

They all looked down, discovering footprints in he burnt ground

"Fire Nation! Those evil savages make me sick! They have no respect for-"

(Y/n) elbowed him

"I know you're from the Fire Nation, but you have to agree that these people are ruthless-"

"Shhh! Sokka!", (Y/n) shushed him

"What? I'm not allowed to be angry?"

(Y/n) points ahead, showing a worried looking Aang

He sinks to his knees in the dust and sighs

"Why would anyone do this? How could I let this happen?", Aang said sad

"Aang, you didn't let this happen. It has nothing to do with you", Katara said

"Yes it does. It's the Avatar's job to protect nature. But, I don't know how to do my job", Aang said

"That's why we're going to the North Pole to find you a teacher"

"Yeah, a waterbending teacher, but there's no one who can teach me how to be the Avatar. Monk Gyatso said that Avatar Roku would help me"

"The Avatar before you? He died over a hundred years ago, how are you supposed to talk to him?", Sokka asked

"I don't know"

"Hey Aang, I don't know if this was just a legend, but my father used to tell me that the Avatar was he bridge between the Spirit world and our world", (Y/n) explained, "maybe you can talk to Roku there?"

"But how am I suppose to do that!?"

"You're the avatar, you'll sure get an opportunity to do it", Sokka said

The gaang spend some time there. Aang was still sad about he forest

"Hey Aang, are you ready to be cheered up?", Katara asked
