"I had fun...I guess."

mia fiddled nervously behind juyeon, as the boy side-eyed his girlfriend. he saw the nervousness evidently dancing in her eyes (how much her whole body), chuckling as he let his fingers brush against her, fixating her attention on him.

"hey." he whispered, now his thumb caressing the back of her hand. mia couldn't help but visibly gulp at the sight of the wooden door, now faint steps coming from the inside causing her to shake.

"it'll be fine baby." he assured, as the door opened, and mia saw the memories of this one month and five days flashing before her eyes. her hands stopped shaking, cause juyeon kept squeezing her hand in the most calming way.

"welcome home kids!" the short woman before them said, her full of wrinkles face scrunching up in happiness, longing and affection for the two. mia couldn't help but snicker at the familiar warmth her smile was radiating.

"merry christmas mom." juyeon said, his wide open arms extended to welcome her into an embrace. the girl found the action heartwarming, feeling emptiness in her own heart while missing her mom's own warm hug.

"you must be mia, right?" she smiled at her direction, as the named girl bowed respectfully and nodded. "yeah, I'm kang mia. it's so nice to meet you." she extended her hand, yet the woman refused to take it.

"na-ah, what is that hand doing? come here, sweety!" she trapped mia in between her hands, as the girl gasped in surprise. juyeon laughed, seeing how she got squeezed by his mom's tight hug with her eyes almost popping out.

but why did this tight hug feel cold?

"come inside dear. it's really cold outside, just look at mia's hands!" she took her cold hands in her warm ones (that somehow still felt cold to the girl) and examined the scratched surface of theirs. she hissed in pain.

"it happens in winter, my hands are quite sensitive to cold weather." she reasoned, as juyeon took out a hand cream from mia's backpack. "so I bought her this one, but it ain't helping." he whined, pouting as his mom chuckled.

"I think I have one that we don't use at all, so I can give it to you. but please, come in!" she said, her hands motioning for the two to come in. mia gave juyeon a hesitant glance, before he put his hand on her back and lightly pushed her in.

she was immediately greeted by the warm environment, the christmacy atmosphere and the scent of cinnamon mixed with hot chocolate. she took a sharp inhale and looked around the dazzling living room, which was decorated with christmas lights, mistletoes and fake snow.

"wow." the small yelp of surprise coming from her caused juyeon to smile, as his eyes glistened with happiness for finally being home, from finally getting back with his family after a very long time.

this time round, with someone special around them.

mia took a seat on the comfy couch, fixing the hem of her turtle neck that was tucked into her long skirt, then some stray strands of hair that tickled her face. juyeon sat right next to her, a small smile present on his lips as he slid his hand over her waist.

he leaned closer, his breath fanning her ear. "how do you like it so far?" he asked, as mia could see how anxious he was through his wide eyes. she chuckled with her hands searching for his own free one. "I absolutely love it, don't worry."

but deep inside, she didn't, and the reason was nowhere to be found.

soon enough, the living room was filled with people that brought a big ass smile on juyeon's face, yet awkwardness building up in mia's whole system. he lost no time in introducing them all, from the cheerful to the silent ones.

cause for juyeon, everything and everyone was important, even if they hurt him in any possible way.

"yo ju, is that your girlfriend?" a rather feminime-looking guy came up to them, as juyeon sat up almost immediately, mia following suit (as much as the pain on her lower abdomen insisted for her to sit down, but first impresions count).

"jeonghan! it's been quite a while." he grabbed the brunette's hand and shook it, before they bumped their chests together, mia tilting her head in confusion a tad bit. "yeah, this is mia, my princess."

he gently wrapped an arm around her waist and brought her closer, jeonghan taking her hand and gracefully placing a kiss at the back of it. "oh my-"

"it's a pleasure to meet you, ma'am. I'm yoon jeonghan, juyeon's lifelong friend." he then turned his head and faced juyeon. "nice one, handle with caution." he winked at the flustered raven, as juyeon let out a gasp of surprise. "you lil-"

"anyways, jokes aside. she's really beautiful, a greek goddess. she gives off athena vibes." he said, juyeon having a smug look. "have you ever met athena?"

"no, but I've met zeus." he winked, as he poked juyeon's chest. "and maybe poseidon's son." he said, as mia kept furrowing her brows. juyeon shrugged. "don't worry, he's straight. just gay for this seungcheol guy."

he pointed towards a tall guy with black hair, that were swept back, making his forehead visible. mia saw how muscular was he, in contrast to both juyeon and jeonghan, and he must have been way older.

"is he a relative of yours?" she asked juyeon, as he shook his head. "no, he just works with dad. both him and jeonghan actually." he said, as mia nodded. "and how old is he?"

"twenty eight, just like me." the girl widened her eyes, scanning the tall guy before her as her mouth hang in surprise. jeonghan chuckled, knowing what she must've been thinking by now. "yeah, many have mistaken my age. I do seem quite young, but I'm an oldie."

"how did you and juyeon get close?" she asked, as juyeon chuckled upon remembering. "that's a way too long story that I'll sum up in four words. 'he is a coward'." jeonghan let out a rather nervous laughter, nudging juyeon's shoulder as he widened his eyes. "what the-"

"I spoke the truth." juyeon raised his hands in surrender, as the brunette sipped on his glass of champagne before he spoke up. "what about you? how did you meet each other?" he asked, as mia glanced over juyeon.

"at work." he plainly stated, making jeonghan chuckle as he swirled his glass. "way too cliche." he commented, as juyeon locked eyes with mia. "eh, how do you want it? we are a part of this cliche world anyways."

she smiled, jeonghan tapping juyeon's shoulder as he walked away to some other group of people that mia paid no attention to. their fancy clothes, the accessories that shone under the yellowish light of the christmas decorative lambs, nothing mattered at all.

the only dazzling this that deserved her attention, was him.

"why didn't you tell him about how about how we met?" she asked, as the car kept a steady pace while sliding on the asphalt, juyeon's grip tightening around the stirring wheel. he just shrugged, his eyes always fixated on the road.

"I'd like to keep it as a secret, as our own special memory. maybe our kids would like to hear it one day." he said, as his gaze never left the road. on the other hand, mia's eyes never left his face, widening as time went by.

her jaw grew numb, as if she couldn't talk anymore, and juyeon found this deafening silence rather abnormal. "what is it?" he asked, a smile creeping up on mia's face. "nothing, I just...got reminded of something."

juyeon hummed, letting the car get filled once again with the faint car sounds and the coldness of the snow outside the car. in contrast to that, mia's heart was filled with a warm sensation she didn't know she needed, and as much as she was slightly displeased with this christmas night, it was all worth it.

so...there was future, a very big one.
