The waiting rooms' air was cool as it breezed across my body. I let out a slow breath as my knees began to both quake beneath my body. I shut my eyes bowing my head praying to whoever was listening to save him — I couldn't lose him ; not now when I'd only just gotten him back.

"Aye Pres," A deep sad voice called to me. "You hear anything yet? He good?"

"I-..," My lip quivered as I tried to speak through my tears. "I don't know. He's been in surgery over an hour now."

Cobe placed his hand on my shoulder taking a deep breathe it was unsteady — I could tell he had been crying.

"He gon be aight man," He tried reassuring me. "He's strong."

He sank down into the seat beside me placing his face in his hands.

I took a deep breathe, slowly letting it out of my nose when my phone vibrated. I looked down to the screen seeing I'd received an iMessage. I opened up my phone using the facial ID, going to my messages when I seen it was a message from Corey.

I sighed heavily wiping my eyes closing out of my messages. A man in dark blue scrubs walked across the waiting room removing his mask, then his bird filled scrub cap.

"Is the family of Marquis Tillman here," His eyes darted around the few filled chairs in the waiting room.

Jacobe and I stood, as he walked closer to us.

"We did all we could," He started speaking. I felt my heart rip in half as I fell to my knees.

"NO," Was all I could muster to yell as the tears rushed down my face.

"Get up," Cobe sniffed trying to get me up off the floor. "We ain gon do that sad shit. We our brother's keeper."

"He shouldn't have to be kept," I mumbled.

"Presley come on," He tried to hold back his tears but I heard it in his voice.

"He's not dead," I shook my head at my older brother. "Cobe he just can't be. He was just getting a chance at life."

"C'mere," He sighed wrapping his broad arms around me.
