I have been swimming for hours on end and my body is starting to burn. Never have I ever swam nearly this far but I know I must in order to save my friend. The sun is starting to rise meaning I have been swimming for at least seven hours.
I don't know how much further but my body is so tired. I continue swimming with the ocean giving me strength. I feel as though I can't go anymore when I finally see land. It's far away but I see this massive town down the mountain side. It's like nothing I've ever seen. It's absolutely gorgeous and I feel my energy grow from adrenaline. I can't wait to get there.
I swim for a few more minutes before getting to shore. I drag my self up the beach side and I can't help but feel absolutely drained. My muscles burn and as I lay on the beach I can't help but shut my eyes, just for a few minutes.
I wake up and I can see I've been sleeping on the beach a few hours because the sun is at full peak. I. wipe my face of sand as I sit up. The beach is empty but I can hear the chatter of people not far from here.
The excitement I had when I first saw the mass of land returns. I slowly strip off my clothes careful no one is looking before bathing in the ocean. By now all my clothes are completely dry and my boots and cloak stayed protected from water.
Xander and I were always lucky that Aunt Melara got us only the nicest clothes. Other children and even adults were jealous but no one ever approached us, since people were scared of Aunt Melara in the outskirts.
After bathing my body and allowing my skin to dry in the sun I get dressed again. I don't remember ever having a beautiful, sunny day like this. The weather was always gloomy and dull like the people that lived there.
I walk through the group of trees separating the beach and the pier and I feel utter bliss. There are people laughing and children playing about. I notice adults using their power of strength and even some of telekinesis. It's incredible that people are able to be themselves.
I walk up the hill and approach a town square. Vendors occupy every curb and I feel like I could forget I'm here to save my friend. My long wavy brown hair flows behind me as I skip along the beautiful streets.
The mainland has this color and a light to it that I literally never thought was even possible. I walk up to a vendor and ask him what he is selling. His cart is filled with the most beautiful colored items with thick green strings attached.
"Why these are flowers, miss," he chuckles as if I asked a ridiculous question. "Have you never seen them before?"
"Oh of course I've seen them everywhere, I was just curious what your land calls them," I lie.
"I see," he laughs. The man hands me a flower which I see on the sign is labeled Orchid and I stick it behind my ear. "What brings you to Calaistos?"
"A friend," I smile and volunteer, "I'm from Orinnia."
My aunt used to talk about how the Orinnians were friends with all. She claimed to come from Orinnia and said everybody loved her people.
"Be careful," he tells me sincerely. "Although Orinnian's are some of the nicest people I've ever met, people here aren't as accepting at this moment. I'm sure you know King Adonis has been challenging the King and Queen of Calistos and people aren't happy."
"I don't bother with royal drama back home, what exactly does my King and yours disagree with?" I ask as if I'm just a girl lacking care and knowledge.
"Pardon me but I can't believe you haven't heard miss, ever since the rumors of the demigods being amongst the living people have been scared, as they should be. King Adonis believes they are no threat and claims he would even go to war to protect them. King Grigoris is trying to protect us because rumor has is that the God's never meant to make these imposters."
