[Outside shot angle of house; same as prologue opening]
Narration: I didn't tell Mom about the phone or the front door, even though part of me told me I probably should've.
N: However, there was that other part of me that rules over it — the part of me that reminded myself that I had taken peeks at my presents many Christmases before and never had anything like this ever happen.
N: I liked my Tattletail.
N: I wasn't just going to give it up

[Living room/ hallway. V peeking in through door in foreground and looking at R and D playing Duck Season in background]
V: Alright, I'm heading to the store! It shouldn't take to long. Do any of you boys want anything?

[V now in foreground and R and D in background]
(R: Bugles!
D: cupcakes!
R: Ice cream!
D: goldfish!
R: Cookies!)
V: alright, I'll think about it.

[closeup of V in doorframe, exiting]
V:Don't open the door for anyone and don't tell anyone that you're home alone if you answer the phone

[now living room. playing Duck Season. Med-shot of R and D, back wall of room visible. R looks at D]
R: Hey, you remember that phone call last night?
D: No
R: The grinding noise sounded a little familiar, don't you think? I swear I've heard it somewhere
D: I don't remember any phone call, sorry. I must've been asleep

[R turns back to TV]
R: Oh, well... maybe I dreamt it, then

[kitchen view into living room, D and R blurred. Phone is ringing)
Narration: I was determined to act like nothing happened
