nini had been back in the city for a few hours now. kourtney picked her up from the airport when she landed and they had walked around for a little bit, talking about their breaks and catching up on what they've missed in the last weeks.

kourtney had let nini go back to her apartment about an hour ago, giving her time to unpack and resettle while she went to get dinner for them.

"nini, i'm back," she sings as she walks back into the apartment, nini walking out of her room to get plates for their food.

"where do you want me to start?" nini asks as they sit down on her couch, deciding to get straight to the point.

"fake dating, then new years, then your rant, then-"

"ok! one thing at a time geez kourt," she jokes, trying to hide her indifference regarding this conversation.

"after i saw him again on christmas eve and my mom made a comment i just got to thinking, and i figured it was a good solution because he was right there and my moms know we have history so it'd be easy to convince them and-"

"nini! please breathe a little bit," kourtney jokes, reaching over for some fries which were placed on the coffee table.

"sorry, i just feel like it's the only way i can say anything. my thoughts have been running so fast and i just cant put any of them into words," she explains, kourtney leaning over to give her hand a small squeeze.

"i get it. so, how's it going? are your moms convinced?"

"mama d seems a little skeptical but she's always been the one who has the higher expectations. i think mama c is just happy to see us talking again. i never told them about what happened, they just assumed we lost touch," she explains, kourtney listening intently.

kourtney thinks about what to say next, "and new years? what happened after that?"

"oh," nini says, having not thought of this until now, "we kind of ignored it and haven't talked about it yet. i don't think we need to, it didn't mean anything."

"but it meant something to you, shouldn't that be enough?" this comment makes nini think, promoting a whole new conversation, however she kept her reply simple.

"i broke his heart kourt, and before you say anything, yes i am going to talk to him about it, but it'd be unfair for me to tell him how i feel. he did the same to me in high school and i ran, there's no way he'd want to hear that from me," she rants, trying to put an end the the conversation.

kourtney looks at her with a soft gaze, "you look tired. i'm gonna let you get some sleep. coffee date tomorrow?"

nini nods her head, standing up to walk kourtney to the door, "i'll text you," she says as she closes the door behind her friend.

she walks back to her room and collapses onto her bed, immediately falling asleep.
